DJ Dylon b.k.a. Kid Hum "Married To Marijuana" Mixtape

Posted: 28 Feb 2009 01:30 PM PST

Kid Hum is a multi-faceted artist hailing from Aravada, Colorado. If his stage name sounds familiar it's because he dropped by here a little while back to discuss the samples he used for his instrumental hip hop album Fossil Fuel. What you may not realize is that Kid Hum is also a DJ who operates under the alias DJ Dylon and has a number of mixtapes under his belt. "Married To Marijuana" is a straight ahead collection of weed anthems from the '90s chock full of tracks from Organized Konfusion, Pharcyde, Freestyle Fellowship, Gza, Diamond D, and others stressing the positive aspects of smoking that shit. Baltimore & Washington DC Underground Part 3

Posted: 28 Feb 2009 06:30 AM PST

Here's volume 3 from the Baltimore/washington Dc area. A couple of these artists are actually from Lanham, Maryland. This is still one of my favorite mixes, 200+ compilations and almost 2 years later. 'Peace, Unity And God' aka P.U.G., starts off strong with 'Living In D.c.'. Witness the killer scratching and mixing in the last part. It is so unbelievably smooth and dope I am hooked, Permanently. Do not be fooled by the name. 'Peace, Unity And God' ain't no wussy christian rap. Production was done by Rick Frio and D.J. Shade. A discogs search didn't turn up anything on either of these guys so if anyone out there has more info please hit me up! Some of the other rare gems on this compilation include tracks 4, 5, 8, 12, 18 and 22. There's a fair amount of variety here. From the heralded early 90's sound of Cage 1 to the heavy mood of Big Cuz And Dangerfeel this mix will have you nodding.

Hoobastank - For(n)ever (2009) @320Kbps

Hoobastank - For(n)ever (2009) @320Kbps

It's been more than two and a half years since Hoobastank released the grammy nominated Every Man for Himself, and in the mean time the band has been making a sizable racket about their next upcoming album, FOR(N)EVER.

"Maybe there is a chip on our shoulder," said singer Doug Robb of the band going into FOR(N)EVER. "Because we have that fire in the belly again. We're ready to do whatever we have to in order to get back to where we want to be. Even if we won't come out and say so."

Uh dude, I think you just came out and said so. And all of that "fire in the belly stuff" is fine, but let's get down to what the fans care about: Does FOR(N)EVER bring what counts: that hooba? That stank? I think fans need look no farther than the half of an infinity sign on the cover of the record to find the answer: Plenty of hooba, tons of stank.

Cog - Sharing Space (2008)

Cog - Sharing Space (2008)

Make what you will of the woody surrounds of a small logging town called Weed, in Northern Californian, USA. Since January, Cog have been calling this place home. It's a far cry from the white sandy beaches of Bondi in Australia, but the boys have gotten comfortable, put their heads down, and focused on the creation of their second studio odyssey, due out 2008. Sharing Space is the follow up to their hugely successful debut album, The New Normal (2005). The single 'What If', is their first offering.
Featuring the powdered vocals of front man Flynn Gower, held together by the rhythmic bass tones of Luke Gower and the trademark thump from drummer Lucius Borich, 'What If' is a more complex and more rounded sounding Cog. Lyrically political and thought provoking, their edge sharpens with age.

Adam Lambert, Allison Araheta and Kris Allen - Press Conference

Posted: 27 Feb 2009 06:20 PM PST

Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert who made it to the Top 12 last night had their first press conference.

From Adam Lambert: In certain ways, there's certain elements of the theater training that could be detrimental to the 'Idol' experience because that's not really the sound I'm going for–I'm not going for a Broadway sound. But this is finally allowing me to be myself. I mean, I don't listen to show tunes in my spare time. I can assure you of that (laughs). The musical theater thing was just kind of the way that I was paying the bills. I mean, we all gotta have a job, right?

From Kris Allen: It was a little scary…but I was really confident about what I was doing. And I was just really really happy I didn't get compared to Michael Jackson. Glad I accomplished that.

From Allison Iraheta: Oh, most definitely. It helps me with, um, being on the stage in front of cameras a little, uh (laughing), but it's nothing compared to this, actually.
