Windy Corner - Lost Garden 1972

Posted: 03 Apr 2009 11:59 PM PDT

And to take it down another notch, here is an obscurity from "Windy Corner", a Dutch minimal psychedelic folk group. Their material fetches rather a lot of money and is very relaxing to listen to. The name of the band comes from the place in Amsterdam where they played live to record their material. "Lost Garden" was recorded over a period of 4 years during the early-mid 70's and was not released

Zorch - Ouroboros 1975

Posted: 03 Apr 2009 11:59 PM PDT

I am going to throw a curve ball next and give y'all something a little bit different folks. I have been listening to this late at night for a while now, that I ought to share it with you if you haven't already experienced the phenomenon that is "Zorch". They were a UK band, that in a way were ahead of their time, using very little technology and producing the most splendid electronic synthesized

Howard Eliott Payne - Bright Light Ballads

Posted: 03 Apr 2009 10:18 PM PDT

What the common point between :  Robert Johnson, William Shakespeare, Karen Dalton, Jack Kerouac, Astrid Kirchherr , Lead Belly , Alan Lomax , Furry Lewis  and Jacques Brel  ?

No Idea ? They’re all united as e-friends on Howard Eliott Payne myspace page ! Howard Eliott Payne ?

Howard Eliott Payne was formerly the frontman in The Stands but since disbanding a year or back, has become a solo artist to be reckoned with. He has just completed his debut solo album which was recorded and mixed in just seven days on a 8 track tape machine with legendary producer Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams/K.O.L./Ray Lamontagne). It features some of the finest local musicians (including his sister Candie Payne), and self-funded by the sale of “a really nice electric guitar”, Bright Light Ballads is, like Howard Eliott Payne, a unique melting pot of Liverpool melody, New York groove, hip city swagger and the wide sigh soulfulness of the wild open country. Rootsy and unearthly in equal measure, at times raw and visceral, at times startlingly tender. (source SXSW)

This is all i’ve found from a short biography page on last.fm and on its SXSW schedule page. So let the music tell his full story

I can’t resist evoking the name of The Waterboys lead singer Mike Scott after this Come Down Easy listening. With this first solo release, Howard Eliott Payne explores the potential of his songwriting between folk, blues and country. Not sure a choice has to be made as this 10 tracks collection offers through thoses various musical landscapes a light ballad.

Artist : Howard Eliott Payne
Label : Move City Records

Jay-Zs Roc Pop Shop Goes To New York

Posted: 03 Apr 2009 10:42 PM PDT

By Ismael AbduSalaam

Today (April 3), Jay-Z's Rocawear's mobile "Roc Pop Shop" store will return to New York City for a special four day engagement.

Developed by David Ashen of D-ASH design, the Roc Pop Shop is a 50-foot long trailer that expands to 1000 square feet when opened.

Doubling as a "mobile lounge," Jay-Z envisioned the vehicle to represent his lifestyle experiences, and serve to keep the premium Rocawear line visible at Jay-Z concerts and events.

The retail store on wheels specializes in offering exclusive, limited edition products and Rocawear styles at "recession proof pricing."

From April 3-6, the Roc Pop Shop will be located at Gansevoort Square, located next to Manhattan's Gansevoort Hotel on 18 9th Ave.

On Monday April 6, the tour finishes in Jay's native Brooklyn at Flatbush and 6th Avenue, located across from Atlantic Yard.

At press time, Jay-Z is continuing work on his much anticipated 11th studio album Blueprint 3, now tentatively set for release in September.

Paradiso Girls Single - Out April 14th

Posted: 04 Apr 2009 06:49 AM PDT

Paradiso GirlsPatron Tequila, the debut single from Paradiso Girls is coming to iTunes on April 14th. That's just two short weeks away! The track leaked this past week and Chelsea Korka has been blogging about it for a few weeks now. I'm just thrilled that it's finally almost here.

The group's Interscope page now has a promo photo and they have a website up now. Looks like the site is only a teaser for now but it's coming soon, probably closer to the single's release date. I really do love the track. There's a CD promo single floating around with an A Capella, dirty and clean version as well as an instrumental. Hot track. Look for it April 14th!

Today I bring you the 2nd album from South Click. This was put out by 'Power Records' in 1998. They have 3 albums total. Their 1st album is a classic and this one is pretty good too. The 2nd effort is more political, deeper, more developed. There are so many liner notes it is a little overwhelming. I'll settle for simply sharing the music itself with you. These guys are defenitely coming from a 5%er perspective.

Touring The States: Minnesota

Posted: 04 Apr 2009 03:00 AM PDT

Midwest is a region forgotten by many, but our tour drove us here, in Minnesota. The year was 1996 when Twice Mike & Koko had been released their first album "Actin' A Fool" on Get Somewhere Productions. Twice Mike has produced the whole album. I can say that this is the only info i have about them. Little bit more info you can find in the booklet which is inside of the download file. We can't say that this album can wear a title as a classic, but it is quite enjoyable, easy edible with mostly pleasant beats for your ears but it also includes some heavy but listenable beats.

01. Smokin' On The Tron 02. Mutual Feelings 03. Wild Wild Midwest 04. Actin' A Fool 05. Cool It Down 06. Brother's Farewell 07. Watcha Want 08. Bounce 09. Live 10. Life Struggles 11. Do You Stack Ends
