HOT SINGLE ALERT! Young Soul Rebels - I Got Soul (War Child Charity Single)

Posted: 26 Sep 2009 01:22 PM PDT

Where have I been? I just learned about this fantastic charity single out in the UK on October 19th. The video is one of those "behind-the-scenes" videos interspersed with clips of happy children dancing and singing. You can see the impressive roster of Island Records talent singing their parts and rehearsing in and around the recording studio. Included on this single: V.V. Brown, Bashy, Chipmunk, Domino Go, Egypt, Frankmusik, Pixie Lott, Ironik, Kid British, McLean, Mpho, N-Dubz, Tinchy Stryder and the London Community Gospel Choir.

Produced by Fraser T Smith (whom I know from his remixes but also has worked with Tinchy Stryder and James Morrison), the track is being released by Island Records and the War Child charity to raise funds for children affected by conflict around the world. Recorded back in July, the song, "I Got Soul" is a re-written cover version of The Killers' "All These Things That I've Done" The hook - "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" is one of my favorite lyrics of all time, and very touching to hear in this new single.

According to War Child in a statement, the new record is "a defining moment for the UK's music scene, which is currently ablaze with world class talent." It continues to say that "the song is the perfect way to educate British youth on the plight of thousands of children across the globe. UK urban and soul music has never been bigger - the artists here have featured on five number one singles already this year."

Well said. Well done all around. This is the feel-good-charity single of the moment. Love it.

I'm so excited about this! It looks like V.V. Brown's attempt at breaking America is already under way. YES! According to a press release, V.V. Brown will be playing 4 dates this October, starting out in New York City at Santo's Party House as part of the CMJ Showcase. According to the release, V.V. and her fabulous band will be joining a gala live showcase, co-sponsored by Windish Agency and CMJ as 2009's annual CMJ Music Marathon in downtown LA. She then heads to Southern California where she'll play The Roxy in Los Angeles (as an opening act for The Juggernauts), Spaceland (also in LA - opening for First Aid Kit) before heading north, playing the Poleng Lounge in San Francisco.

V.V. Brown

While none of the dates are in Boston, I understand that this is her first U.S. appearence so I'm hoping for more dates later on in 2010. Her album, Travelling Like The Light is scheduled for North American release in early 2010, preceded by an introductory EP due out in November 2009.

Kylie Minogue - U.S. Tour Set List Announced

Posted: 26 Sep 2009 12:12 PM PDT

So so excited about seeing Kylie Minogue on Wednesday, October 7th. That's coming up so fast! I still don't really know what to expect as far as atmosphere, people, etc. I'll be going by myself which should be...interesting. Well...thanks to Perez Hilton, I now know what Ms. Minogue will be singing. The set list has been released exclusively to Perez. According to Perez, the set list isn't 100% complete yet. The encore songs are not listed. Regardless...I'm so pumped for this set list! What do you all think? Anything missing?

Kylie MinogueP.S. - not really sure how accurate this as I was reading Kylie's handwriting and some of it wasn't legible. Can anyone confirm/correct?
