Amy Winehouse Starts Own Record Label | Signs 13-year-old Dionne Bromfield

Is your record company giving you grief over your hard-partying, drugs and drink-fueled lifestyle? Or is it constantly on your back about it being high time you deliver a new album after two years without any new material being released?

If so, your name is probably Amy Winehouse, and you’re likely getting increasingly annoyed about the record company trying to tell you what to do. How dare they? So why not set your own label up instead and see how you cope with being a media mogul.

According to the News Of The World, Winehouse is doing exactly that, spending £1 million ($1.6 million) of her own hard-earned (sort of) cash to do so. The business is called Lioness and Winehouse has even signed her first act.

Dionne Bromfield is Winehouse’ 13-year-old Goddaughter who has already appeared alongside Amy in a couple of hastily filmed videos uploaded to YouTube. Winehouse is so convinced of her talent, she has made her the first signing to her label, and spent a small fortune on singing classes for Dionne so she can train her voice.

It’s also rumored that Winehouse has approached Lady GaGa, Lemar, and Eoghan Quigg (the cry baby from The X-Factor) to sing duets with Bromfield on her debut album. Amy has co-written and co-produced the album, which could be out as early as March.

Dionne said:

"I had a lot of record companies wanting to sign me but I didn't know where to go. So for Amy to set up this record company and make me her first signing means so much."

This could, of course, all be absolute hogwash, as the News Of The World hasn’t exactly been the most reliable source for news in the past. And seeing as this time last week, the newspaper was reporting how Winehouse was having fun and doing no work whatsoever in St Lucia, I don’t know when she’s meant to have had the time to set up a record label from scratch, contact various other artists, and record a full album with Bromfield. Hmm, something smells fishy.

If it is true then good luck to Amy, and good luck to Dionne too. She does seem to be very talented and hopefully Winehouse will see her right. Let’s just hope Bromfield doesn’t follow her Godmother down the route of getting smacked up to the eyeballs on a regular basis.
