Noel Gallagher Stage Attacker Facing Up To 14 Years In Prison For Aggravated Assault

Last September, Noel Gallagher was attacked on stage during an Oasis concert in Toronto, Canada. The guitarist and songwriter fell awkwardly after being pushed violently from behind, breaking several ribs and forcing the group to postpone several gigs.

The attacker was immediately apprehended by venue staff before being handed over to the police. He was actually lucky that security were there because Liam looked set to smash the guy’s face in following the assault on his brother.

The attacker, Daniel Sullivan, 47, was charged with assault over the incident, but the NME is now reporting that the charge has been upped to the more serious one of aggravated assault. This means his maximum sentence has risen from five to 14 years in prison.

Sullivan will first go to court on March 16 before a full trial decides his fate. Personally, I hope they throw the book at him, making an example of him. A man in his forties should know better and there seems to be now thyme or reason for his actions.

The fact is, Noel Gallagher could have been more seriously injured than he was. Broken ribs are bad enough but if he’d landed on his head the man could be facing manslaughter or even murder charges.

What’s the betting that on the day of this guy’s release from jail, an aging Liam will be standing at the gates having waited patiently in order to finish the job he looked set to start in the aftermath of the attack?
