The Source Magazine Is Going To Show Less Skin Posted: 23 Jan 2009 09:39 AM PST The original Hip-Hop music magazine, The Source, has decided that it will no longer be accepting racy adds hoping that sex doesn't sell. The Source was the first hip–hop music magazine established in the 80s. A best seller at first, the magazine soon lost ground to the Vibe. In recent years they have even had to file for bankruptcy. Their new policy is hoping to change all of that by attracting a more mom pleasing crowd. The theory is that by placing sexual adds the magazine only sells to a small 20-30 year old demograph. However, by changing the content to a more parent friendly version the magazine will have no problems selling to a younger audience. Lets hope the change works because in these economically trying times its very risky to be refusing endorsement.
