| Fox Executive Happy With New Idol Season, Says Big Surprise Coming Posted: 19 Jan 2009 09:12 AM PST Last year, American Idol finally showed some imperfection – the ratings machine actually experienced some major drops and, while it remained strong, it didn't perform as well as it has in the past. I think that's probably one good reason why they brought in Kara DioGuardi as a fourth judge. People needed to see something fresh and, so far, it's going well. Fox executive, Mike Darnell (I would have never guessed he was a Fox executive, sat down and talked with Television Week about this eighth season and he had some interesting things to say. He talked about how Kara is fitting in and how they plan to focus more on the "reality" aspect of the show by giving viewers a more behind-the-scenes look at the lives of the contestants. He also said that when the show gets to the Top 12, we will see a big surprise! He said that it's not going to be something that changes how we think of American Idol, but it will be something that people will talk about. I wonder what it could be! Any ideas? | Jordin Sparks Sings National Anthem at NFC Championship Game Posted: 19 Jan 2009 08:51 AM PST American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, performed the national anthem at the NFC Championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Arizona Cardinals yesterday (Arizona won 32-25). What did you think? I don't know if I liked it or not, to be honest. It definitely wasn't terrible but I just wasn't sure if I liked the arrangement. The Cardinals will be facing off against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009. I'm so excited! |
| Disney’s American Idol Experience Audition Process Posted: 19 Jan 2009 08:15 AM PST Considering auditioning at the American Idol Experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida? If so, you might want to watch the video below:
This video explains how the audition process works at the attraction. You must perform on of the 100+ songs on the list a cappella and, if the casting director(s) like you, you will move on to the next round. At that point, you will be seated in a room and provided with a special iPod so that you can prepare and rehearse for the second audition (which will be videotaped). After the second audition, you will get ready to perform on the American Idol Experience stage. How exciting is that!?
