Posted: 20 Jan 2009 12:51 PM CST Performing "Air and Simple Gifts", composed by John Williams, Yo-Yo MA, Anthony McGill, Gabriela Montero and Itzhak Perlmen preceded President Barack Obama's oath of office. Their performance laid a peaceful tone over the National Mall, just following the oath taken by Vice President Joe Biden. Yo-Yo Ma is a French born, Chinese-American cellist who holds many Grammy Awards. This was not the first President for which Yo-Yo Ma has performed.
