Antony and the Johnsons - The Crying Light Posted: 21 Jan 2009 08:45 AM CST Antony and the Johnsons released their latest album, The Crying Light, on January 20th. This six piece band has (Antony Hegarty [vocals], Julia Kent [first chair cello], Parker Kindred [drummer], Jeff Langston [bassist], Doug Wieselman [horns], Maxim Moston [violin, arrangement], Rob Moose [guitar, violin]) created a soothing sensual sound that has a way of vibrating the ribcage that holds the heart of those who listen to them. Hegarty sings as though he has had his heart broken like no man has ever been broken before. Although, on this record there may be songs that grab hold of you, they do have some that lack that ability such as “Kiss My Name”. To be honest, I really am not sure at all what this song is about. However, the song “One Dove” is sheer beauty and the band knows it! The song “Another World” is equipped with the ability to relate to all of those people who just want to go somewhere to start over. For the most part, this album seems to be written for the brokenhearted and should be heard by those who need a shoulder to cry on. Antony and the Johnsons lend their shoulders to all who need it.
