| Posted: 29 Jan 2009 03:22 PM CST ![]() Ludacris Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris has joined forces with mega retailer Best Buy's teenage-based social networking site @15 for a special TSA ("Teen Service Announcement"). Best Buy is hoping Luda's participation in the online program will encourage teens to give back. Ludacris participated in the TSA as an early supporter of @15, a new teen-led social change platform underwritten by Best Buy to give teens a voice and give them opportunities to direct the company's philanthropy through the newly-created @15 Fund. (MSN News) Luda spoke up publicly in support of @15. "We all make mistakes, but you have to learn from your mistakes. Try not to make the same mistakes twice in life. We all have teenage years where we kind of were rebellious and just doing things that we're finding out about life," said Ludacris in his online TSA. "We've all been through some bad situations and you learn from them and you become a better person because of it. Adversity can make you a stronger person." (Press Release) Users will be able to submit their own personal videos on the site. Like a traditional PSA, the @15 TSAs are short, unscripted videos that share the collective thoughts and experiences of teens - and former teens - with messages of hope and inspiration for America's youth. Over the next several months, the @15 Web site, along with its social networking pages and YouTube channel, will feature messages from teens engaged in Best Buy programs, celebrities and musicians, and Members of Congress. | Off The Subject (But Not Really) 50 Cent To Release Dietary Supplement Posted: 29 Jan 2009 03:07 PM CST ![]() As the release date approaches for his much delayed 4th LP Before I Self-Destruct, mogul 50 Cent has plans to diversify his multi-million dollar portfolio with a new dietary supplement. In 2007, 50 first spoke of the possible business venture, stating his interest at that time stemmed from an upcoming role as a boxer in the Nicholas Cage film The Dance. This year, the G Unit leader finally feels the market is ready for such a product. "Right now, I'm interested in dietary supplements," 50 told the NY Daily News. "I'll be coming up with something very soon." Although the Queens native disclosed that the project is close to completion, 50 cryptically declined to elaborate on further details. "I can't tell you what it would be called," 50 stated. "I'd be blowing the big launch party!" The rapper/mogul also admitted that after the phenomenal success of his debut Get Rich or Die Tryin', he became more concerned with brand development than musical output. "When [my career] blew up, I developed the Diddy syndrome," 50 explained. "As soon as you develop the Diddy syndrome, you put a little more grease in your hair, and soon enough, you're selling cologne." 50's latest single, the Dr. Dre produced "I Get It In," was released on January 15. At press time, Before I Self Destruct is now tentatively set to drop in March 2009. |
