The beginning of the creative way of Pavel can be considered as 2003- y the year, when first steps in the electronic music were made, so also 2006- y the year, when began the work on first EP - Mechanical Of soundscapes. In this time the style of music changed from the imitation to classical IDM to the side of the atmosphere and. After the appearance Of mechanical Of soundscapes it was well perceived by amateurs IDM. After obtaining reputation in the small circles and after inspiring by results, Pavel began the work on second EP - Pneuma, which left in the middle of 2008. Disk came out dark, still more atmospheric, industrial and by somewhere even lyric. Work does not stop, third at hand…

The Shore is an American rock group founded in Silver Lake, California by current frontman Ben Ashley. The Shore are heavily influenced by psychedelic bands like The Byrds, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys as well as Britpop groups Oasis and The Verve.

In the Spring of 2002, Ashley wrote a series of songs with producer Rick Parker. Parker assembled a group of local musicians, including Kyle Mullarky (bass), Cliff Magreta (guitar), and John Wilmer (drums), to record a series of demos. The demos came to Scott Austin (Maverick A&R Executive) and the band was given a major contract only a few months after their initial recordings. The Shore returned to the studio with Parker to record their first album. The Shore recorded the album over a period of three months. The Shore EP was released on New Year's Day of 2003. Their full length album, The Shore, was released in August of 2004. After touring with guitarist Wayne Faler, he was added as a permanent member of the band in December of 2005. It was about this time that The Shore parted ways with Maverick Records to pursue a better record deal.

While reporting that the band was in the process of writing and recording a new album in the midst of their departure from Maverick Records, there are currently no updates as to its status.

"Light Years" is the second album by the Rock/Alternative band The Shore. It is scheduled for a digital release on October 20, 2008. However, as of October 12, 2008, the album is available on itunes.

[2006] As Cruel as School Children - Gym Class Heroes [Mp3 Download]

Posted: 01 Feb 2009 03:55 AM PST

Editorial Reviews@Amazon.com

The Roots aren't the only hip-hop group to build their sound around live instrumentation. Yet this Upstate New York quartet doesn't sound much like Philly's finest. Further, As Cruel as School Children is more radio-ready than previous efforts, especially "Cupid's Chokehold," which appropriates Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" to fine effect, i.e. "Take a look at my girlfriend / She's the only one I got." (A different mix appears on The Papercut Chronicles.) Not many indie-pop artists can freestyle, though, as frontman Travis McCoy proves on "Sloppy Love Jingle, Pts. 1-3," a trio of a cappella raps. Aside from dividing these tracks into "periods," "study halls," and the like, in fitting with the high school theme, McCoy's narratives touch on teachers, cheerleaders, and lunch room chatter. Guests include William Beckett (The Academy Is...) on "7 Weeks" and Speech (Arrested Development) on "Biter's Block." Cruel as School Children was co-produced by Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy) and released by band mate Pete Wentz's Decaydance imprint. Stump, who pops up in the "Cupid" video, also provides programming and backing vocals. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Rammstein Collection [1995-2005] [Mp3 Download]

Posted: 01 Feb 2009 03:50 AM PST

Biography by Ed Nimmervoll @ allmusic.com
Rammstein was formed in 1993 by an assembly of factory-weary proletarians raised in East Germany. They took their name (adding an "m") from the location of a German tragedy where 80 people were hurt and killed as the result of a crash during an American Air Force flight show. The literal translation of "ram stein" is a battering ram made of stone. Word of Rammstein's horror romanticist blend of theater and music spread like wildfire. One-time Olympic swimmer Till Lindemann would sing entire songs engulfed in flame from head to toe. The band's first album, Herzeleid (Heartache), built on the grounds created by the band's live reputation. Scaling the German charts (and remaining there until the release of the second Rammstein LP some two years later), the album also introduced the band to the world outside of the Germany/Switzerland/Austria region. As Rammstein's second album, Sehnsucht (Longing), was released, the band was headlining throughout Europe to crowds of 10,000 to 30,000 people. Sehnsucht entered the German charts at number one immediately upon its release and came very close to doing the same in Austria and Switzerland. Within weeks, entries on other countries' charts had Sehnsucht rubbing elbows with the Prodigy, Radiohead, and the Rolling Stones on Billboard's cumulative Eurochart. From there the fever spread, transcending any perceived language barrier. Mutter followed in 2001, Reise, Reise in 2004, and the live collection Volkerball in 2006

"The album plays like a pastoral work of stargazing time-travel...the group writes catchy and accessible pop songs, driven by the lazy vocals and quirky vocal melodies" NPR

"...The album is sure to win listeners over if they're looking for hazy hooks and smoky folk-rock, which the band pulls off successfully. By integrating an array of different musical elements, the band has finally found its own sound...and because of this, it seems that their best work is only yet to come.."Alarmpress.com

[2006] Me and My Gang - Rascal Flatts [Mp3 Download]

Posted: 01 Feb 2009 03:29 AM PST

Editorial Reviews@Amazon.com
This fourth effort from the soft-rock-masquerading-as-country band Rascal Flatts moved more than 721,000 copies its first week out, which let the female-friendly trio rub elbows with some mighty heady company. Only four other country artists (Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks, and Tim McGraw) have rolled out numbers like that, and only 24 other acts total (including Eminem, 50 Cent, U2, and Coldplay). So what's the hook, besides Gary LeVox's wounded tenor and Joe Don Rooney's boy-band face? Clearly, it's the songs. Or it usually is. On Me and My Gang, "What Hurts the Most" is the one that'll end up on a tape loop in your head, though "Yes, I Do" memorably frames romantic yearning and regret with ersatz reggae rhythms, and the sexy "Cool Thing" does a slow burn. The problem? New producer Dann ("King of Excess") Huff bloats too many tunes with screaming, by-the-book guitars and general bombast. And despite his über success with Faith Hill and Keith Urban, Huff has never really understood what makes country, well... country. Instead, he insultingly works in a snippet of steel guitar and a couple of family lyrics--e.g., the melodramatic "Ellsworth" is meant to pull the heartstrings of anyone who's seen the cruelty of Alzheimer's--and thinks he's thrown Nashville a bone. Worse, "Backwards" boringly reworks that hoary ol' country joke "What do you get when you play a country song backwards?," the title song is a Big & Rich ripoff, and even God gets dragged in for a half-baked attempt at middle-America resonance ("He Ain't the Leavin' Kind"). C'mon now. Call these boys pop and be done with the pandering. Joe Don's famously photographed derrière got a fairer crack than this. --Alanna Nash

Swedish indie-artist singer/songwriter, Hello Saferide is Annika Norlin, born in Östersund, Sweden, now living in Stockholm.

With a warm voice and beautiful melodies she made a slight breakthrough 2005, beginning with the single PlayMy Best Friend. Her actual dream was to become an author, but after playing a couple of her songs at a friends' house it didn't take long until she was signed and you could hear her songs all the time on the radio. Such a success story!

Her songs are very text based, with beautiful rhymes and quick parts of speedy and clever word complexes.

Annika has said that she at times has hidden meanings in her songs. She doesn't want to change the world and make peace, but she smiles and says that in the song PlayMy Best Friend. is actually about her wanting to say that it is okay to fall in love with anyone no matter the sex.

She says herself that she is not much of a stage person but that she does her best. She was on tour in Sweden during 2006, with the last stop being the Emmaboda festival.

In the beginning of 2007 she released an album with lyrics in Swedish, this time under the name Säkert!. The music differs a bit from the music of Hello Saferide.

The Owl Service - A Garland of Song (2008)

The '60s are an alluring time to look back on. An era when it still seemed possible to genuinely exist outside the 'industry', to make aesthetically conventional music that still seemed 'other'. Or at least perhaps that's what it feels like looking back. Certainly for folk music at least it was an unrivalled period of creative fertility, with artists as diverse as Sandy Denny, Anne Briggs, Vashti Bunyan, Nic Jones and Dick Gaughan all creating innovative, beautiful, faintly rebellious music in an earnest, innocent manner that would appear to be out of reach in today's über-cynical music industry.

It's no wonder then that a modern folk-act like The Owl Service would look to hark back heavily to that era, as free and exciting as it now seems. Indeed, as the opening line of the press release brazenly states, Steven Collins formed the act in order to explore his love of the British folk revival. The first track of A Garland of Song, the group's debut album, even has the bracketed subtitle 'Folk Revival' – it's pretty clear what to expect.

Having said that, the group, led by the suitably ethereal vocals of Jo Lepine and Diane Collier, pull off their own interpretation of the music of the era with creditable élan. The title-track and opener has a pleasingly summery jaunt about it, in a Fairport Convention sort of way; 'The Dorset Hanging Oak' manages to pull off the sort of Wicker Man-esque menace in way that tamer acts like Tunng never could. Indeed, throughout the album there's a subtle, unsettling undertone that sits well alongside the more upbeat numbers, like the confident, conventional, 'Apple Tree Man'.

Where A Garland of Song starts to grate, however, is in its almost complete subservience to the music of that era. Although a worthy attempt to replicate the almost magical quality of the music made by the likes of Shirley Collins, ultimately what made Collins et al so appealing was their complete normality – Collins and Briggs never had particularly great or forcibly 'ethereal' voices, yet it was precisely this 'realism' made their music so strangely compelling: the cover of the Collins staple 'Turpin Hero' comes across as a little too mannered an attempt to replicate that quality. Album closer 'Flanders Shore' comes far closer to achieving the sad, plaintive beauty of the music made by the folk pioneers of 40 years ago.

As impressive and assured a debut record as this is, one suspects that the best way The Owl Service could pay homage to their heroes would be to better marry the present with the past, to find their own voice, as those before them did so effectively.-drownedinsound

[1999] Forget About It - Alison Krauss [Mp3 Download]

Posted: 01 Feb 2009 02:14 AM PST

Review by Michael Gallucci @ allmusic.com
Alison Krauss gets introspective and personal on her seventh album, one of her solo outings that shoves Union Station in the background while conventional country steps up to the spotlight. But Krauss is a little too sharp for Nashville standard, so Forget About It sounds more like an adult pop album with occasional notes of country grace. Unfortunately, the material here isn't very inspired (despite a dip into the Todd Rundgren songbook and the fine title tune), and Krauss herself has a hard time elevating it. Still, her fragile, angelic voice is capable of working wonders, which it often does with even the weakest of songs. A marginal effort.

The White Stripes Collection [4 albums] [Mp3 Download]

Posted: 01 Feb 2009 02:09 AM PST

Biography by Chris Handyside @ allmusic.com
Detroit minimalist rock duo (specifically, southwest Detroit minimalist rock duo) the White Stripes -- Jack White, guitar and vocals, Meg White, drums -- formed in 1997 (Bastille Day, to be precise) with the idea of making simple rock & roll music. From the red-and-white peppermint candy motif of their debut singles, self-titled album, and stage show to their on-the-surface rudimentary style, they succeeded wildly and immediately with that mission. Their first recordings were a mix of garage rock, blues, and the occasional show tune. In frontman Jack (a former drummer for Detroit country outfit Goober & the Peas), the White Stripes have a formidable songwriter, guitar player, and vocalist capable of both morphing between styles and changing the musical styles themselves; ranging from the folk blues of Blind Willie McTell to soaring Kinks-esque pop and narrative pop tunes worthy of Cole Porter and into deepest Captain Beefheart territory within the span of 15 minutes is not an uncommon listening experience with either the White Stripes live show or on record. In drummer Meg, the White Stripes have a minimalist percussionist who seems to sense intuitively exactly when to not play. The White Stripes are grounded in punk and blues, but the undercurrent to all of their work has been the aforementioned striving for simplicity, a love of American folk music, and a careful approach to intriguing, emotional, and evocative lyrics not found anywhere else in the modern punk, or garage rock (or among postmodern "blues" practitioners such as Jon Spencer, for that matter).
While they may have sprung from the Detroit rock scene, the White Stripes quickly gained a national following after two successive tours with indie rockers Pavement and Sleater-Kinney in 1999 and 2000. The White Stripes released their second LP, De Stijl, in 2000 and it further spread the group's reputation. They followed its release with successful tours of Japan and Australia and entered the Memphis studio of renowned producer Doug Easley for 2001's White Blood Cells. The album was a critical smash and the White Stripes soon found themselves, along with the Strokes and the Hives, at the forefront of the new wave of rock & roll bands poised to take over the world. The band certainly did their best to achieve world domination, appearing on Late Night with David Lettterman, being written about in Time, The New Yorker, and Entertainment Weekly, playing the MTV Movie Awards, and having their video for "Fell in Love with a Girl" in heavy rotation on MTV. They also made the tough decision to jump to a major label; White Blood Cells was reissued on V2 in January of 2002 and their first two records followed suit in June. The White Stripes truly became big time rock stars when their "Fell in Love with a Girl" clip was nominated for four MTV Video Awards, including Best Video of the Year (alongside Eminem and *NSYNC!), Breakthrough Video, Best Special Effects in a Video, and Best Editing in a Video. That summer the group also played four triumphant shows with the Strokes, two apiece in the bands' respective hometowns. In spring 2003 their fourth full-length, Elephant -- recorded in two weeks at London's Toerag Studio and dedicated to "the death of the sweetheart" -- arrived to nearly unanimous critical acclaim.
In 2005 the Stripes returned with Get Behind Me Satan, a dizzyingly diverse album that spanned disco-metal and light, marimba-driven pop and was written and recorded in two weeks that spring. While touring that year, the band covered Tegan and Sara's "Walking with a Ghost," which they released as a single at the end of 2005. That year, Jack White and his wife, model/singer Karen Elson, moved to Nashville, TN. White also formed the Raconteurs with Brendan Benson and the Greenhornes' Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler, and spent much of 2006 touring in support of the group's debut album, Broken Boy Soldiers. Early in 2007, the White Stripes announced they were working on a new album; Icky Thump, which included the first-ever Stripes songs with bagpipes and mariachi horns, was recorded in three weeks at Nashville's Blackbird Studio and was released that summer.
