American Idol 8 Hollywood Week – Day 4

Posted: 10 Feb 2009 10:32 PM PST

We saw the fourth day of Hollywood Week tonight on American Idol and, except for a couple things, I wasn't really surprised.  What did you think?AMERICAN IDOL: Hollywood Auditions: L-R: Judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson evaluate the hollywood contestants on AMERICAN IDOL airing on FOX. CR: Michael Becker / FOX. With 72 contestants competing to be among this year's finalists, it was good to see some people taking risks.  The Idol hopefuls were allowed to use instruments during their performance (most didn't).  As usual, the performers were split into four rooms after another day of auditions and, of course, you could see how nervous they all were.

I had a good laugh when Tatiana Del Toro, one of the most emotional contestants I've ever seen on the show (okay, she's THE most emotional and high-strung person I've seen make it this far on the show) was taken from one room and moved to another – when she got to the new room, those people got A LOT more nervous since her behavior makes it hard to tell if the judges like her or not.

Of the groups, only those in Room 3 were eliminated and they included Michael Castro, India Morrison, Kaylan Lloyd, Leneshe Young, Lacey Brown and Ryan Johnson.  I have to admit that I was surprised to see Leneshe eliminated.  I thought her rendition of Sara Bareille's "Love Song" was actually quite good.  Too bad.

I was glad to see a few of my favorites stick around most notably Anoop Desai (who sang "My Prerogative" which seems like an odd song choice), Lil Rounds ("If I Ain't Got You") and Michael Sarver (although, his performance of "All or Nothing" was a bit weak).  I hope they make it to the finals!

Who were your favorites of the night?

Kanye West Talks to Ryan Seacrest About Attack on Rihanna

Posted: 10 Feb 2009 03:33 PM PST

Kanye West was on Ryan Seacrest's radio talk show where he spoke briefly Celebs sighting in Soho about how he felt when he learned that his former tour mate, Rihanna, had been allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend, Chris Brown.

As was reported by Rihanna Buff, Kanye heard the sad news just as he was about to take the stage at the Grammy Awards:  "I was doing American boy, I was completely devastated doing the performance… I don't want to speak more into specifics, with that situation but all I am going to say is that it's just so devastating …I feel like just as a person…That should never happen, it should never come to that place."

I'm not surprised that he had something to say – not only is Kanye very outspoken but he is also very close to Rihanna.  I'm waiting to hear what Jay-Z has got to say about this, to be honest.  Kanye and Jay-Z are like her big brothers so I hope Jay speaks out on this tragedy soon.

Listen to what he had to say on Ryan's show:

Posted: 10 Feb 2009 09:47 AM PST

Looking for juicy gossip about what American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood, will be doing on Valentine's Day?  Will she spend a romantic evening with her rumored boyfried, NHL hockey player, Mike Fisher?  What about a relaxing day at the spa?

51st Annual Grammy Awards - Press Room

If you guessed any of those things you would be wrong.  The award-winning country music star told Us magazine that she will be on a plane (maybe flying home after attending the invitation-only grand opening of the American Idol Experience?).  I hope she, at least, gets to kiss more than those Grammy Awards she keeps winning!
