Subic Bay Hour Ep 39 - Global Recession and the Subic Bay Workforce

Posted: 11 Feb 2009 08:09 AM PST

Yes, the Subic Bay Hour, a co-production of state radio Philippine Broadcasting Service - Radyo ng Bayan 738 kHz AM (PBS-RnB) and Bay FM in Subic Bay Freeport is still going strong in 2009.

Subic Bay episodes in the final weeks of 2008 delved on several important issues in Subic Bay (i.e. the controversial 300 trees of the Ocean 9 Resort and Casino Project brought up by reknowned architect Jun Palafox, among others) which evidently became and still are big news here in the country.

Currently and in the weeks to come, economies will continue to reel from the sweeping effects of the global recession, with employment particularly getting badly hit by this crisis. And Subic Bay Freeport is definitely no exception.

In this episode of the Subic Bay Hour aired last February 7, we had as our guest Atty. Severo Pastor, Manager of the SBMA (Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority) Labor Department and he talked about the current employment situation in the freeport and what the SBMA is doing to cushion the effects of this global crisis.

Here now is Episode 39 of the Subic Bay Hour.
