Kaiser Chiefs Take A Break - Ricky Wilson Turns His Attentions To Television Instead Posted: 22 Mar 2009 03:16 PM PDT Kaiser Chiefs are reportedly taking a sabbatical from writing, recording, and playing their music. What’s more, front man Ricky Wilson could be about to try and break into TV, forging himself a new career on the goggle box. The reports that Kaiser Chiefs were going to take some time away from being a band have been circulating for a couple of weeks now. The decision has apparently been taken due to their third album, Off With Their Heads, received a lukewarm reception. Off With Their Heads was produced by Mark Ronson and is actually a decent album. However, it doesn’t feel as exciting as their debut release, Employment. There is a possibility that the music landscape has just moved on from their style slightly. The Sun is now suggesting Ricky Wilson will take the opportunity to try and forge a career on the television. Wilson has appeared on chat shows and quiz shows, with a notable appearance as host of Never Mind The Buzzcocks which got rave reviews. It is, of course, entirely possible to have careers in music and television running jointly - Cheryl Cole from Girls Aloud manages it with The X Factor - but there is a risk that if successful Wilson will choose TV over the Kaiser Chiefs full-time. Personally, I’d like to see them back in a couple of years time, maybe with a refreshed style and some cracking new songs, if that’s indeed possible. But there’s a distinct possibility we’ve seen the last of the Kaiser Chiefs as we know them.
