American Idol Season 8 Wildcards Named Posted: 04 Mar 2009 06:05 PM PST Well, the mystery of the Wildcard Round is behind us as the judges named the contestants on American Idol tonight. The wildcard picks are as follows: Von Smith – YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy! I really like Von and I hope he well! Jazmine Murray – I'm a little surprised by this choice but, as the judges said, she's got a lot of commercial appeal so I guess I can understand that. Ricky Braddy – I'm happy he's got a second chance. He's got a great voice and I'd like to see what he does next week. Megan Joy Corkrey – Megan is really unique which is good because I feel like there is a good amount of talent this year but there's a shortage of uniqueness (at least in the Top 12). Tatiana Del Toro – Giggles emerged from the audience as Tatiana immediately started crying and thanking the judges for putting her back in the competition. She's got a decent voice but I'm not sure I can take her hysterics. Matt Giraud – I'm not surprised by this at all. The judges seemed to like him, viewers seemed to like him but he just didn't get the votes. We'll see what happens. Jesse Langseth – The judges liked her bluesy voice and added her to the list of people in the Wildcard round at the last minute (during the last commercial break, in fact). Not sure how I feel about this one… ANOOP DESAI – WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO! I'm so happy!!! I love Anoop and I was crushed when he was eliminated after the Group 1 performances. BRING IT ON, ANOOP! I really want him in the finals! What do you think? Did the judges get it right? The only one I really cared about was Anoop so I'm okay with the others. image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Michael Becker / FOX Tags: contestants, wildcard, wildcard picks |
American Idol Results – Lil, Scott and Jorge Make the Top 12 Posted: 04 Mar 2009 05:42 PM PST On American Idol tonight, we found out which contestants advanced to the finals. I can't put my finger on it but this eighth season is just not as interesting as the others. Do you feel the same way? MJ from MJ's Big Blog put up a post recently showing how the ratings continue to drop and I am not at all surprised. The first person named to the Top 12 from Group 3 is Lil Rounds! She did a great job performing Mary J Blige's hit "Be Without You" and I'm thrilled that she made it to the finals! The second finalist based on last night's performance show is Scott MacIntyre, the first blind contestant to make it to this stage in the competition. He sang "Mandolin Rain." The third contestant to be named to the finals is Jorge Nunez who sang "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me." He was emotional again, rambling on for a few moments in Spanish after hearing the great news. So sweet! image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Michael Becker / FOX Tags: elimination, finalists, results-show |
Carrie Underwood Bonds with Mike Fisher’s Parents Posted: 04 Mar 2009 02:06 PM PST Things are heating up between hockey player, Mike Fisher, and country cutie, Carrie Underwood. The American Idol winner is reportedly spending more time with Mike's parents and was recently spotted out at dinner with them and Mike on Saturday. The four of them were seen dining at Fratelli, an Italian restaurant in Ottawa. One source says the lovebirds "seemed happy. They seem made for each other." The source also added that the dinner "was very low-key. They sat at a private table and did their own thing." This took place right after Carrie spent the night rooting for the Ottawa Senators player who was playing a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. She had VIP box seats which she shared with his parents among others. The couple was seen the day before at the Rideau Center where he accompanied her to stores like BCBG and Sephora. The manager of BCBG says, "They looked very in love. She’s very tiny and he’s very tall, but they looked good together and very smitten." Aw! Good for her! I hope she can find true love with Mike. She deserves a nice man who can make her happy. image: Bauer-Griffin Tags: Carrie Underwood, dating, mike fisher, mike fisher going out carrie underwood, parents, romance, together |
Kelly Clarkson Praises Katy Perry, Wants to Work with Adele Posted: 04 Mar 2009 01:42 PM PST American Idol season 1 winner, Kelly Clarkson, told British newspaper, the Daily Star that she'd love to work with Annie Lennox and breakout artist Adele. The singer says, "I hope to do something with Adele. I love her voice so much, she’s just so incredible." "One of my new songs is like an Eurythmics meets Killers dance thing called If I Can’t Have You. I adore Annie Lennox, she’s such a strong woman. It’s no secret that I’m pretty much obsessive about her." Kelly wasn't done dishing out the praise. She also had some kind words for "I Kissed a Girl" singer, Katy Perry. Referring to the 24-year-old singer she says, "Katy Perry’s awesome and cute too." I'm loving Adele right now too and I can't imagine what a duet with Kelly would sound like. That being said, I'm just not feeling Katy Perry as much.
