Steven Adler Should Write His Own Music

Posted: 15 Mar 2009 10:47 AM PDT

Now that Steven Adler is clean and sober, he’s back on the road with his Guns And Roses tribute band. I mean that’s what it is after all, right? I totally understand that Steven wants to play music, but should he really take pride in performing Guns N’ Roses tunes after Appetite For Destruction? I think a lot of people would like to see Steven do his own thing and write some killer tunes that are his own.

Steven was interviewed by Pennylive.com’s Patriot News. In the interview he was of course asked about G N’ R days.

Q: When you look back at those days in G N’ R —

A: Oh, those were great days. It was a great time. It’s a shame that Axel put me through all that … he did. He likes to blame people, like everything’s Slash’s fault, that’s why we’re not going to do a reunion. What did Slash do? He didn’t do anything.

Q: Well, that’s what I was going to ask. With all that bitterness, does it tarnish your memory of those early days?

A: Oh, those memories are tarnished. They’ve been tarnished for a long time. But I survived it, and am a better person and stronger person for it.

He was also asked about his experience in Sober House and Celebrity Rehab. I didn’t see the complete season of either of these shows, but when I did see Sober House, Adler was in bad shape and relapsed. I only saw the negative side of Adler and the beginning of his sobriety. I hope he can stay clean and perhaps write some of his own, new music, maybe even as his own therapy.

The video above is amateur video footage of Adler and his band performing Mr. Brownstone at The Brixton in Redondo Beach, California on February 28th from Youtube user lisapolisa.
