| Blur To Record New Material, But Not Yet Posted: 22 Apr 2009 11:49 AM PDT ![]() Blur are back. And the majority of us who remember the glory days of the band are pleased as punch they decided to settle their differences and reform as a four piece. But while they have committed to touring again, what are the chances of some new material? Blur haven’t made a record together since Think Tank in 2003. It was during the recording of this that Graham Coxon was asked to leave the band, and it took five years for Damon Albarn and him to forget the past and look to the future. Since announcing their full reunion in December, 2008, Blur have announced a massive gig in Hyde Park, London on July 3. Don’t bother looking for tickets now though as they sold out within minutes of going on sale. They are also playing a second night in Hyde Park as well as smaller gigs in the weeks leading up to the main event. They are also playing in Manchester and headlining the Glastonbury and T in the Park festivals. But what about recording new material? That’s the question The Daily Star put to Graham Coxon, and he replied:
So it will happen, but not for a while. Which isn’t really surprising seeing as most of the members are still doing things on their own. Coxon himself has a new solo album due on on May 11 called The Spinning Top. There’s no doubt that hearing the Blur classics being belted out on stage again is going to be fantastic. But personally, I’d love to see the four members of the band back in the studio and producing future classics as well. Let’s hope Albarn, Alex James, and Dave Rowntree are as keen on doing so as Coxon seems to be.
