Elton John Leaves Las Vegas After Five-Year Caesar’s Palace Run Of 241 Shows Posted: 23 Apr 2009 01:20 PM PDT Elton John is one of the greatest performers Great Britain has ever produced. Sure, he’s foul-mouthed and controversial, arrogant and outrageous, bad-tempered and just a little bit spoilt. But sit him down at a piano with a microphone and he will wow you and everyone else watching. Which is exactly what Elton John has been doing for the last five years at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Originally signed on for a three-year tour of duty, he had his contract extended due to visitor demand to see him play live. However, all good things must come to an end, and John’s Las Vegas run did just last night (April 22) as he played his last show at the famous hotel and casino and waved goodbye to the undisputed gambling capital of the world. According to The Associated Press, Elton spent the show talking to the audience. He closed the night by asking the following:
During his five-year run, Elton played a grand total of 241 shows. Which works out at just under one a week. Nice work if you can get it, I’m sure. Having said that, I’m not sure if I could sing the same songs over and over again every week for five years. What now for Elton John? I don’t know, probably back to the grindstone of spending millions of pounds on himself, hosting lavish parties, and criticizing anyone who crosses his path. Oh, and writing a few songs here and there I suppose. [Photo Source: Newscom] Tags: Bette Midler, Brit, British, Caesar's Palace, Celine-Dion, Cher, Elton John, Great Britain, Las-Vegas, UK |
