Idol Stalker - Watching American Idol |
Jordin Sparks Talks About Dating and More Posted: 09 Apr 2009 12:52 AM PDT American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, gave an interview with OK Magazine recently that I thought was a fun one for a change (interviews can get so repetitive!). The first thing that surprised me is that Jordin is trying to learn Japanese after becoming very interested in the culture. I share this interest with Jordin, actually. My family has lived in Japan off and on for the past 20 years and I've gotten to visit. I absolutely love it there but only speak a little Japanese. She talked about whether she still watches Idol and she said that she actually does (I read her Tweets about it all the time, actually!). She said that her grandparents TiVo it for her when she can't watch it. She also revealed that she has voted and, during the first week, she voted for Danny Gokey and Alexis Grace. Jordin recently worked with John Mayer and, naturally, she was asked about the experience. Here's the quote of what she said: "I was so excited because my mom told me she talked to John's manager and that John was going to call me on my phone and I was like, "What??" I had a little bit of a freak out but John called me and we were talking about this night and he was really excited, and so was I. I was trying really hard to not freak out, but I am a huge fan and I ended up telling him that and then I felt really lame after I said it." Isn't that sweet!? I love when I hear stars tell their own "I acted like a fool in front of a celebrity" stories because it reminds me that they are just like anyone else. I would totally freak if John Mayer called me so I can't blame her! She was asked if she follows all of his twittering and she admitted that she is but said that she doesn't think he realizes it is actually her replying to his messages since he has "like 50,000 people following him and talking to him at one time, so he has no idea I'm following him. He's a smart guy though." She was also asked if she is dating anyone. She said that she is single (but looking) and says that her schedule is a bit hectic to have a relationship. She describes her perfect boy in the following way: "Well, I have grown up around sports my whole life, so I do like athletic guys, but I also like musicians and it's a little hard to find an athlete/musician. They have to be respectful, respect my family and who I am, they have to make me laugh because it they can't make me laugh I can't handle it because I laugh all the time, all day. If they don't have a good sense of humor and can't take my sense of humor, they're gone." I think that's pretty solid reasoning, don't you? It's so important to laugh and have fun (especially during the hard times) so I'd say having a sense of humor is something I value in a relationship as well. image: Newscom Tags: jordin sparks boyfriend, jordin sparks single |
American Idol 8 Top 8 Results Show Recap Posted: 08 Apr 2009 07:02 PM PDT Tonight's American Idol results show started with a song from Simon Cowell's year of birth (1959). Old footage of Frankie Avalon singing his hit song "Venus" was shown but then Avalon walked out on stage. It was a fun moment. The Ford commercial this week featured Britney Spears' single "Circus" and it was pretty good. I've found the commercials less entertaining this season so this was a bit of an improvement. Flo Rida sang "Right Round" and can I saw that the girl who sings the hook (Kesha) annoyed me so much. Her singing was not great and she just irritated me. Kellie Pickler performed "Best Days of Your Life" which was co-written with Taylor Swift, and it really did not sound good. I think it's a cute song but I think she might have been trying to move around too much. Find out who went home after the jump! The bottom three were Anoop Desai, Lil Rounds and Scott MacIntyre and the judges said that a couple (one in particular but they didn't specify) of them were worth saving. Lil was the first to be sent back to the couch and it was Scott vs. Anoop. In the end, Scott had the fewest votes and Paula and Kara wanted to save him but, in the end, Randy and Simon disagreed and sent Scott home. Catch Katharine McPhee on CSI:NY Tonight! Posted: 08 Apr 2009 05:25 PM PDT American Idol season 5 runner-up, Katharine McPhee, will be making a guest appearance on CSI:NY tonight. You won't be surprised to learn that she plays a stalker victim (so many end up being stalked in these guest roles). I'm sure it will be a lot of fun to see her acting on TV instead of singing (no, I did not see The House Bunny). Tags: CSI:NY, katharine mcphee csi |
American Idol 8 Top 8 Performances Recap Posted: 08 Apr 2009 09:18 AM PDT Last night, the Top 8 contestants on this eighth season of American Idol performed songs from the year they were born. Did you see it? Overall, I thought it was a pretty decent night. Some of these themes can be disastrous and I'm never particularly fond of this one. Anyway, here's my recap of last night. I want to hear what you guys thought too! Danny Gokey opened the evening with his rendition of "Stand by Me" and I thought it was pretty good! Some of the judges mentioned not liking the arrangement (Paula liked it, though, and I agree – it was good!) but they praised the vocals. Kris Allen tried to modernize "All She Wants to Do is Dance" a bit too much and got smacked down for playing with the melody too much. It was a good performance but he could land in the bottom 3. Lil Rounds sang "What's Love Got to Do With It" and I wasn't particularly thrilled with it. I thought she could have picked a more challenging song and I really hope that song choice isn't what gets her sent home. The judges didn't love it either. Anoop Desai gave a really heartfelt, vocally solid performance of "True Colors" and I was glad because I normally really hate when someone sings this song. The judges really liked it but Simon told him that he's a bit inconsistent – one week he's great and then the next he's not very good at all. Scott MacIntyre sang "The Search is Over" and it just was not a good performance for me. He was vocally all over the place. The judges felt the same way, although they applauded his effort to play the guitar instead of sitting behind the piano again this week (actually, Simon said that Scott should go BACK to playing the piano). Allison Iraheta delivered an excellent performance of "I Can't Make You Love Me" and it took me by surprise because the lyrics are so deep and emotional on an adult level but she managed to connect with it. The judges were also blown away. Matt Giraud gave, what I felt, was an over-the-top performance of "Part Time Lover" and, while I know that he can sing, he tried to do too much with it, in my opinion. The judges loved it. Adam Lambert sang a version of "Mad World" that sent chills down my spine. I didn't like Adam those first couple weeks but he has completely and totally won me over. This was his best performance and Simon got up and gave him a standing ovation. image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Michael Becker / FOX Tags: american idol recap, top 8, top 8 performances |
