Posted: 16 Apr 2009 05:10 AM PDT Souther rock legends, Lynyrd Skynyrd released their second album, Second Helping 35 years ago, yesterday. So how do you follow up a debut album with such amazing southern rock anthems as Simple Man, Free Bird and Tuesday’s gone? You release another album with more classic songs such as Swamp Music, Sweet Home Alabama, The Ballad Of Curtis Loew, Don’t Ask Me No Questions and Call Me The Breeze. See this was back in the 70’s when rock bands had to release albums with great songs instead of one single and an album full of filler. Skynyrd didn’t establish themselves in the rock and roll world with glitz and glamour, they played songs that people could relate to. Bluesy, country rock that people loved and still love today. The Johnny Van Zant fronted version of Skynyrd will be on tour with Kid Rock this summer.
