Maximo Park Talk New Album, Quicken The Heart, And Announce North American Tour Posted: 05 May 2009 04:21 PM PDT Maximo Park remain one of my favorite British bands of recent years. More than Bloc Party, The Futureheads, or even Art Brut, here is a group that lives up to the hype time and again, and manages to deliver the goods on a consistent basis. Maximo Park are preparing to release their new album, Quicken The Heart, due out next Monday (May 11). The first single, The Kids Are Sick Again, was released today and gives a great impression of what to expect from the LP. I’m eagerly awaiting the new album but lead singer Paul Smith recently told The Daily Star about his worries for the release. The making of Quicken The Heart was apparently a little tricky, with different members of the group wanting to head in different directions. He said:
You and me both, Paul. being a fan of a band who never quite get the praise or the sales they deserve is a frustrating experience, so I’m hoping the record-buying public choose to embrace Maximo Park this time around more so than they have in the future. Having already announced and almost sold out a UK tour, which I’ll be going to and reviewing here on Brit Music Scene in a couple of weeks, the band from the North-East of England have now also announced a North American tour. The dates are:- Seattle, WA Bumbershoot Festival (September 6) I urge anyone reading this from a town or city close to any of the above to give Maximo Park a try. Their live shows are full of energy, and won’t disappoint. If you go and don’t enjoy yourself then feel free to come back and give me stick in the comments.
