N-Dubz Singer Tulisa Doesn’t Have Swine Flu - Has Got Publicity From Having Normal Flu

There is so much crap being written about swine flu at the moment. Yes, it’s a serious problem, yes, it could turn into a pandemic, and yes, it’s sad that people are dying from it. The rest? Pure conjecture on the part of scientists and health organizations.

What proved this for me was the news that N-Dubz singer, Tulisa Contostavlos, fell ill on a flight to Greece last week and was immediately suspected of having swine flu. Why - was she flying from Mexico? No. Was she on the verge of death? No, she merely had the sniffles.

Despite this, Tulisa was taken to a hospital in Athens and treated like a leper, being kept in isolation for days while the doctors all sat round and scratched their heads wondering what the hell was going on.

Meanwhile, N-Dubz went to the top of the British Singles Chart in collaboration with Tinchy Stryder, and both the group and the singer received masses of publicity. Which I suppose I’m now adding to with this post.

It has now, unsurprisingly, been confirmed that Tulisa hasn’t got swine flu, just a nasty case of normal flu. The 20-year-old is currently staying with her aunt in Greece but may fly back in order to line-up with her band mates at Radio 1’s Big Weekend on Sunday.

I’m really not a fan of N-Dubz - I’m too old to get it, and consider their success a stain on British music. However, I’m glad Tulisa isn’t about to die of swine flu because that would mean the chances of a pandemic would have risen a little bit.

Next time though, I hope Tulisa sunbathes topless or takes some Amy Winehouse-amounts of crack in order to gain some publicity. Contracting the latest scaremongering illness would seem to be pushing it a little.
