| Lily Allen Calls Susan Boyle “Overrated” Ahead Of Britain’s Got Talent Live Final Posted: 26 May 2009 03:03 PM PDT Anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the past month will have heard of the UK’s latest singing sensation - a 48-year-old Scottish virgin by the name of Susan Boyle. You may also have heard of a female singer called Lily Allen, even though she’s probably less well-known. ![]() Boyle was discovered on Britain’s Got Talent, when she walked on stage as a frumpy, middle-aged nobody and left as a superstar and Internet phenomenon. She’s also the odds-on favorite to win the show outright. Never one to miss an opportunity to voice her opinion and grab some publicity at the same time, Lily Allen has decided now is the right time to slam Susan Boyle. And she’s done exactly that on her ever-popular Twitter page. She tweeted:
Which is harsh, I’m sure you’ll agree. However, Allen did also add that she herself was also overrated saying, “Je suis overrated aussi,” before adding, “I have never in my life claimed to be talented. I do work hard at writing songs and putting on entertaining concerts though.” Not that that makes what else she said right but it does show a degree of humility. I even agree with Allen to a certain degree because Boyle is getting far too many plaudits and far too many compliments than is either worthy or necessary. She’s a good singer but I’ve heard better, much better. Still, Allen has got her free publicity out of it, which is most definitely one of her finer talents.
