Posted: 12 May 2009 06:03 PM PDT Adam Lambert chose to sing "Crying" by one of my favorite groups, Aerosmith. I was surprised by the choice and I thought that the backup singers were kind of terrible. I also was just not in love with the performance because I felt it was way too over the top and it lacked that emotional connection that Adam usually has in his songs. Randy said that Adam is one of the best that has ever been on the Idol stage and he liked it even more than the first song. Kara showed her shock at his ability to hit those notes. Paula said that if Steven Tyler was the mentor, he wouldn't have anything to say. Simon said that it's too easy to assume that he's going to sail through to the next round and he reminded everyone at home to vote. image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Frank Micelotta / FOX Tags: adam lambert, adam lambert crying, adam lambert top 3, cryingPost from: Idol Stalker |
Posted: 12 May 2009 05:55 PM PDT Kris Allen decided to sing "Heartless" by Kanye West and everyone in my house jumped and looked at each other with shocked faces. He chose to accompany himself on the acoustic guitar and he completely, absolutely, 1000% blew me away. I was extraordinarily stunned and impressed and I think that Kris has really solidified himself as an artist, whether he wins or not. Randy said that he liked that version better than the original Kanye version. Kara said it was bold, brave and fearless and added "the tone, the pitch, the phrasing 100%." Paula said he sang a song about Simon Cowell and she commends him for doing something so current. Simon said the first song was a lame choice and that he had written Kris off as a result but that his performance of "Heartless" made him change his mind. image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Frank Micelotta / FOX Tags: heartless, kanye west heartless, kris allen, top 3, top 3 performancesPost from: Idol Stalker |
Danny Gokey Top 3 “You Are So Beautiful” Posted: 12 May 2009 05:48 PM PDT Danny Gokey chose to sing "You Are So Beautiful" which was originally made famous by Joe Cocker. After losing his wife, I can't believe that he can sing these super emotional songs. I thought his voice sounding so amazing and I loved the arrangement. I think that was my favorite performance by Danny this season. Randy said that he loved that Danny showed that he's in the competition because he can really, really, really sing. Kara said that it was stunning and amazing. Paula said that they were left breathless by the performance and that by changing the song's structure he made it beautiful. Simon said that it was a vocal master class. Wow! image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Frank Micelotta / FOX Tags: danny gokey, danny gokey you are so beautiful, top 3, top 3 performances, you are so beautifulPost from: Idol Stalker |
Carrie Underwood Revisits Africa For Idol Gives Back Posted: 12 May 2009 05:48 PM PDT American Idol season 5 winner, Carrie Underwood, recently went back to Africa for Idol Gives Back where she filmed a segment about preventing the spread of malaria through the use of bed nets. She stressed that, while the money from Idol Gives Back has made a huge difference, a lot more still needs to be done to help. It's so incredible (and incredibly sad) that something as small as a bed net could save so many lives and costs so little, yet it's almost inaccessible to those in Africa. I am not only happy that Idol Gives Back has been helping but I'm also glad that they are raising awareness about how some global tragedies can be prevented. image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: FOX Tags: Carrie Underwood, carrie underwood africa, idol gives backPost from: Idol Stalker |
Posted: 12 May 2009 05:31 PM PDT American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, chose U2's iconic hit "One" because he said that it is one of his favorite songs in the world. He even had to get permission from Bono himself and Adam did not disappoint. It was beautiful, poignant, tender and powerful all at the same time. I really loved it and I can't believe how much he had grown throughout this competition. Randy said that Adam has been hot since day one but he wasn't thrilled when Adam went away from the melody (Simon actually booed). Kara said that Adam is a strategist and he can change everything about a song and still make it unbelievable. Paula said that she is miserably sitting next to Simon who is gloating. She basically called Adam the American Idol. Simon said it was a brilliant song choice and that it was a brilliant, brilliant performance. image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Frank Micelotta / FOX Tags: adam lambert, one u2, top 3, top 3 performancesPost from: Idol Stalker |
Posted: 12 May 2009 05:21 PM PDT American Idol judges, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi, were responsible for choosing a song for Kris Allen this week and I was thrilled to learn that he would be singing "Apologize" by OneRepublic. I really loved the performance and, I know he didn't make too many changes to the arrangement, but it was great for me. Randy said that right now it's about who is going to win this competition and he believed that Kris showed us what kind of artist he could be in the music business. Kara said that it was a very confident performance but she wishes he had made it more his own. Paula said that she was so proud of Kris but that there was a really loud bum note. Simon said that what Kara said was a cop out and said that Kris can't be blamed for not reinterpreting a song he didn't choose. image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Frank Micelotta / FOX Tags: apologize, kris allen, kris allen apologize, onerepublic, top 3, top 3 performancesPost from: Idol Stalker |
Danny Gokey Top 3 “Dance Little Sister” Posted: 12 May 2009 05:12 PM PDT American Idol judge, Paula Abdul, was in charge of one of the song choices for Top 3 contestant, Danny Gokey. She picked "Dance Little Sister" by Terence Trent D'Arby and I think it was a corny and dumb selection. She could have picked something that the audience would have been more familiar with while allowing Danny to be who he is. I didn't like it but I think Danny did the very best that he could with what he was given. It was high energy and I loved the scatting. Randy said that Danny sounded good and had a lot of energy and said it was "dope." Kara said that she liked that Paula picked that song because it keeps him in his "money zone" but thought the singing was too girating. Paula said that she is a choreographer and believed that Danny did "really good." Simon agreed that the dancing was a bit desperate but that it was very, very good vocally. He didn't like the sax solo, though. image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Frank Micelotta / FOX Tags: dance little sister, danny gokey, top 3, top 3 performancesPost from: Idol Stalker |
Allison Iraheta on Good Day NY - Video Posted: 12 May 2009 10:27 AM PDT Allison Iraheta was on Good Day NY this morning where she gave a quick interview and I think, for the first time, it's very clear that she's just a regular young woman. When she's talking, she sounds just like any other teenage girl I know (a little awkward but sweet) but it's a different story when she opens her mouth to sing. She sang "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith and I think she did a great job. American Idol 8 Top 3 Homecoming Pictures Posted: 12 May 2009 10:22 AM PDT The top three finalists on American Idol made their way back to their hometowns and, on tonight's episode, we'll get to see footage. In the meantime, here are some pictures and recaps of what to expect! Adam Lambert went back to San Diego, California (although he currently lives in Los Angeles) where he sang "Black or White" by Michael Jackson and "Mad World" by Tears for Fears at his alma mater, Mt. Carmel High School. I don't know if it's funny or not but while he was there, a young girl dressed in a bra and skirt was able to make it onto the stage but was eventually hauled off by security. San Diego mayor, Jerry Sanders, announced that May 8 would be known as "Adam Lambert Day." Kris Allen went home to Conway, Arkansas where he was greeted by a crowd of more than 20,000 fans and locals. He sang "She Works Hard for the Money," "Falling Slowly," "Ain't No Sunshine," and "Man in the Mirror" at concerts in both Conway and Little Rock. He seemed happy during the motorcade/parade and was accompanied by his wife, Katy (see below). Danny Gokey went home to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he was reunited with his best friend (and former contestant) Jamar Rogers at FOX 6. He visited his church, Faith Builders International and then performed a mini-concert at Summerfest (where he forgot the words to "Billie Jean") and then threw the first pitch and sang the national anthem at the Brewers vs. Cubs game. American Idol 8 Top 3 Perform Tonight! Posted: 12 May 2009 09:51 AM PDT Can you believe that we are already at the Top 3 on American Idol? The eighth season has really flown by and I'm really excited. Tonight, the boys will perform two songs (including one chosen by the judges) and there are a lot of rumors about what they will sing spreading across the internet this morning. I have no idea if any of it is true but Adam Lambert might sing "One" by U2 or "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaac, Kris Allen could perform "Apologize" by OneRepublic and Danny Gokey could possibly belt out "Dance Little Sister" by Terence Trent D'Arby (although, some people have mentioned "You Are So Beautiful"). Are you excited? I think Top 3 week can be really "make it or break it" and, while I believe that Adam will probably be in the finals, I truly believe that this is anyone's game at this point. Get ready for a shocker (just in case!). image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Ray Mickshaw / FOX Tags: adam lambert, american idol 8 top 3, danny gokey, kris allen, top 3Post from: Idol Stalker |
