American Idol 8 Top 3 Results Show Posted: 13 May 2009 06:11 PM PDT Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria and Bill Hader opened the show with a little skit and it was pretty funny. I cracked up at Jonah's impression of Randy Jackson. More than 88 million votes were cast to determine the Top 2 and I can't believe we are at this point of the season already! Apparently, the person being sent home tonight lost by one million votes. That's crazy! Alicia Keys came out to add to what Carrie Underwood said about Idol Gives Back. She introduced a young man who wants to make an album to help other African children so that they can fight HIV. She asks us all to text the word "ALIVE" to 90999 and donate $5 to the cause. The performance was so cute and sweet! I hope it raises a lot of money! Next, they showed more footage of the homecoming/hometown visits with Danny Gokey going first. It was hilarious (and touching) to see how much love and support Danny got and it was also great to see Jamar Rogers again. Kris Allen was next and it was amazing to hear him explain that there was about 20,000 people at his rally when the town only has like 40-50,000 in total. Jordin Sparks then performed her new single "Battlefield" and, for all that talk about her being comfortable with her body the way it was, she looked a LOT slimmer. Did you notice? What did you think of the song? I thought it was way better than "Tattoo" because she actually got to put her talent to work but I found it sounded a little rough towards the end. Adam Lambert was brought on to the stage so that they could take a look at the footage from his hometown visit. They had a chuckle about the female fan who took her shirt off and tried to run to Adam. His fans were definitely the craziest of the three hometowns. Katy Perry performed her song "Waking Up in Vegas" and the first thing I noticed what that she had Adam Lambert's name embroidered on her cape. WOW! I really am not a big fan of this song so it was really just okay to me. FIND OUT WHO WAS ELIMINATED AFTER THE JUMP! Sadly, one of the very talented guys from the Top 3 had to be eliminated tonight and it was Danny Gokey. So sad. He's been such a favorite since the beginning. Carrie Underwood on 2009 Maxim Hot 100 Posted: 13 May 2009 09:24 AM PDT American Idol season four winner, Carrie Underwood, is #60 on Maxim's 2009 Hot 100 list. I don't agree with most of the list (particularly the top 10) but good for Carrie for being recognized as a beautiful woman. image: Bauer-Griffin Post from: Idol Stalker |
Paula Abdul Gives Scott MacIntyre a Guide Dog Posted: 13 May 2009 09:18 AM PDT American Idol judge, Paula Abdul, surprised eliminated finalist, Scott MacIntyre with a guide dog at an event honoring May as National Guide Dog Month. Watch the exchange and then let's talk. What did you think of it? I found their behavior really odd and I'm not sure what to make of Scott's reaction. Maybe I'm reading into it too much but something felt "off" about this… Tags: guide dogs, scott macintyre, scott macintyre guide dogPost from: Idol Stalker |
Jennifer Hudson Gets 2009 BET Nods Posted: 13 May 2009 09:09 AM PDT It's been years since Jennifer Hudson was eliminated from American Idol but she has proven that you do not have to win to succeed. Her star continues to rise and I'm so happy for her! Jennifer has been nominated twice for the upcoming 2009 BET Awards which will take place on June 28, 2009 at 8pm ET. She has been recognized in the "Best Actress" category for her work in The Secret Life of Bees and has been nominate for "Best Female R&B Artist." I'll confess that I haven't seen The Secret Life of Bees. If you've seen it, was it a good movie? Is it worth renting? I will definitely be tuning in to the BET Awards this summer and I hope Jennifer takes home at least one of the awards that she's nominated for. image: Bauer-Griffin Tags: 2009 awards, 2009 bet awards, BET Awards, the secret life of beesPost from: Idol Stalker |
American Idol 8 Top 3 Performance Recap Posted: 13 May 2009 08:58 AM PDT It was a drama-filled evening over at the judges' table on American Idol last night with the bickering and subtle insults starting with the very first performance. Danny Gokey sang "Dance Little Sister" (chosen by Paula) and the judges seemed to like it but Kara criticized his dancing. Paula didn't miss a bit and said "I'm a choreographer" and I believe he was "really good." Meow. Kris Allen sang "Apologize" (chosen by Kara and Randy) and Kara and Simon nearly came to blows when called her critique a "cop out" because she picked his song and shouldn't criticize him for singing the original arrangement. Adam Lambert sang "One" (picked by Simon) and Randy thought it was good but didn't like how he strayed from the melody and Simon started booing him on the spot. Footage of American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood, in Africa for Idol Gives Back was shown. Danny Gokey sang "You Are So Beautiful" and all four of the judges agreed that it was, vocally, a huge triumph. Kris Allen shocked everyone and sang Kanye West's "Heartless" and Randy said that he liked it better than the original, Kara said it was brave, Paula was happy he did something current and Simon said it was better than the first "lame song choice." Meow again! Adam Lambert wrapped up the night by singing "Crying" and the judges seemed a little tired out and didn't bicker but Simon did basically plead with America to vote for Adam. It's going to be an interesting results show!
