Idol Stalker - Watching American Idol

The beautiful and talented Jennifer Hudson was on the Today show yesterday where she performed several songs including "Love You I Do" and "Spotlight."

I absolutely love her but can I just take a moment to comment on her outfit? I'm a fuller-figured woman so I'm not mad at her for carrying a little extra weight but you've got to wear clothes that flatter and accentuate your curves. I think that top and those pants made her look frumpy (in fact, whoever designed the upper leg part of those pants should be banned from fashion forever).

Anyway, here's a video of Jennifer singing "Spotlight." She did a great job (as usual).

The fan who won the "Sing With Jennifer Hudson" contest also got to sing and they performed "And I Am Telling You" together. Watch it here:

Paula Abdul is Back on the Billboard Charts!

This great news! Paula Abdul's newest single "I'm Just Here for the Music" has made it to #87 on the Billboard Hot 100!! That's fantastic! Especially for someone who hasn't released a solo album in almost 14 years!

Last year, after 13 years of not being on the charts, Paula's song, "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" made it to #80 on the charts. Paula premiered "I'm Just Here for the Music" on American Idol on May 6th and wowed the crowd as she…well…danced like there was no tomorrow.

Good for her! That's great to hear!

David Archuleta & David Cook Get Checked for Swine Flu

With the recent outbreak of the H1N1 swine flu virus, other nations are being very cautious about who they let in to the country. The United States and Canada have been hit the worst with the swine flu, so it's only natural that David Cook and David Archuleta, of season 7 on American Idol, were checked for the virus upon arriving in the Philippines on Saturday.

As soon as the two Davids made their way to their hotel rooms, quarantine officials arrived to inspect them. They were both told that if they did not cooperate with orders from the health officials, they could be held, arrested or detained.

After a few hours of examination, they were both cleared (thank goodness) and were forced to agree to terms that they would check for symptoms and watch their temperatures twice a day.

I know that there are some people who are not taking this outbreak seriously, but in reality it's important to do as much as we can to make sure the virus doesn't spread. I'm pretty glad that they were both checked for the swine flu and obviously that they were both cleared.

Danny Gokey’s Emotional Departure From American Idol

Backstage after his elimination, Danny Gokey, told Jillian Barberie that just 10 months ago he was sitting at his wife's casket and that he didn't know where to go but now, it seemed that the world has opened up to him. That's amazing. Paula Abdul was crying and it was just a really emotional departure. Watch this video:

Since then, he told Billboard that he wants to "start a movement" with his music and went on to say: "I didn’t get in this thing for the money. I didn’t get into it so I could live this glamorous lifestyle. Does that come with this career? It will…But I feel like my vision is a little different. Maybe it didn’t line up with the goals of what (’Idol’s’ producers) see as a pop star. I’m OK with that.
I was a nobody, and this show turned me into somebody. I do believe the best is yet to come for me. This is not the end of the road."

Wow. I wish I could tell him that I'm sure he was never a "nobody" and that his ability to become a "somebody" wasn't because of some talent show but is due to the fact that he is a very talented man. I hope he doesn't sell himself short!

He also wants to put more energy into Sophia’s Heart Foundation, which was named for his late wife who passed away in July after her third heart surgery. "I want to call my team and get my focus laid down," he explained. "I want to define our goals. I want to grow this foundation because (it) means so much to me."

He also has one more thing on the backburner. He is considering creating his own line of eyewear (I loved his glasses on the show – he started with 15 pairs and now he has more than 50). He would use the proceeds to help fund the foundation.

I really hope it all works out for him and that he will be someone to watch in the industry for years to come.
