I completely forgot he did a video for this. The song is a hidden gem for sure. Too bad the video is so low budget.

What's The Deal With Vibe?

Posted: 12 May 2009 03:00 PM PDT

Early last week Vibe Magazine ruffled some feathers with their top 50 blogs list. Before the week was over they hit us over the head (or "jumped out the window"... that's what the kids say nowadays right?) with an absurd GOAT tournament bracket. I suspect they're just making an attempt at being edgy so they can sell some subscriptions because aren't they one check away from being out of business?

I didn't really feel any kind of way about that 50 blogs list. Sure, there were some strange chart positions & whatnot but who really cares? It's Vibe. The last time Vibe was worth looking at was when Bobbito had a column. How long ago was that? But this Greatest Rapper Evar bracket is fun to complain about.

Go here to download the bracket...

Ok before we even talk about the different seeds let me point out that this whole thing is a contest. If you win the contest you get a custom iPod touch or something. Here's the thing though... you have to mail your bracket in which should show you how much they know about teh internets over there so all that fretting over the top blogs was for naught. Plus they don't say how the GOAT is being picked. Is it the most mailed in votes? Do they already have the winner determined? Are we supposed to go by fame? Are we supposed to go by skills? What are the guidelines? I don't know about you but I suspect there's no iPod to be had.

But anyway, the brackets are obviously setup to make ironic/controversial pairings. Why else would they pit Plug One vs Plug Two or Nas vs AZ when the lower rated seed in such match ups is easily better than so many other rappers on the list. Like why is Big Boi a 10 seed & Grand Puba a 23 seed? Anybody who knows anything knows that Big Boi couldn't get at Puba. Ever. Why is Chubb Rock facing Biggie in the first round? They have Chubb as a 32 seed in that division when he's undoubtedly better than almost half of people in that section. Whoever made this bracket must not watch sports because this is the definition of fail.

Watch Joe Budden react to the list:

SMH @ Joey "never heard of" Cowboy. How old is Joe?
lol @ they have the computer sitting sideways to read the screen
lol @ in 10 minutes + he never noticed the "play in" bracket for the *pick

He has his points. In 2009 he'd smash almost half of the field & smash them easily. But if you're supposed to take history into account, as the title of the contest suggests & the fact that there's dead people on the list implies, then he takes an L in the first round.

The thing that makes this list so horrible is most of these people probably can't battle. There's a laundry list of "underground" rappers who would have a field day with these people.

But this post is about his Let Me Turn You On joint. He was a FOOL for recording it & jumped out the window for making it a video. Wasn't it the first single too? Rollerskating joint fasho.
