Katie Melua Promotes Her Tour & Album in Chicago Posted: 11 May 2009 05:35 PM PDT I'm getting excited for the upcoming Katie Melua gig on May 27th in Cambridge. Tickets are ordered and I've got a guest to join me. Katie is in the midst of her 18 city North American tour, hitting up my home town Chicago tomorrow night. Melua's team on Facebook posted video links today of a promotional appearance on Chicago's WGN Channel 9 morning news program. In addition to a short interview, Melua performed "Perfect Circle," of her latest album Pictures, recently released here in the U.S. Also posted was also web-exclusive performance of "Mary Pickford." I love a good intimate gig and this performance just makes me more excited. I'm just hoping the audience remains mellow and that no fist fights break out. |
Kaci Battaglia Channels Britney, Christina & Rihanna on New Single Posted: 10 May 2009 08:48 PM PDT Kaci Battaglia isn't a name you should recognize, but hopefully it will be one you'll recognize in the not too distant future. Formerly known by her first name only, 21 year-old Kaci Battaglia has been singing since she was young. Signed to Curb Records at a young age, she went on to release a few pop/dance singles. Her second single was the one I remember, a cover of "I Think I Love You," with a dance remix from UK remixers, Almighty. While her last single was released in 2007, her sound up until now, has remained fairly innocent and young. Sugary, bubblegum, fluff-pop. Not bad, but not very relevant as far as contemporary U.S. radio is concerned. Her new single, "Crazy Possessive" is going to change all of that! UK music site, Popjustice, accurately compares the song to Britney's "Womanizer," Christina Aguilera's "Keeps Gettin' Better" and Rihanna's "S.O.S.," going as far as to name it last Friday's "Song of the Day." Remixes are by Digital Dog so far. This song is going to be massive! It is released on iTunes May 26th. Check out Kaci Battaglia on the web: MySpace/Twitter |
Video Premiere: Freemasons feat. Sophie Ellis Bextor Posted: 10 May 2009 08:31 PM PDT Looks like the Freemasons new video with Sophie Ellis-Bextor leaked last week. I'm thrilled! I love Sophie and I love the Freemasons. This video is magic! Sophie looks (and sounds) fantastic as always and the beats are bumpin' on this jam. I can't wait to hear the remixes. It's released on June 22nd in the UK. Pre-order yours here. Check out the video, here. |
New Music: Cobra Starship feat. Leighton Meester Posted: 10 May 2009 02:24 PM PDT Cover Art via Coverlandia While I'm not a die hard Cobra Starship fan, I do enjoy the singles I've heard and what I've heard of their last album. Plus, lead singer Gabe Saporta is very hot. I remember first hearing about the band when the movie and title song, "Snakes on A Plane" was released. I loved both the song and the video. Photo by Lauren Dukoff via MySpace This new single, "Good Girls Go Bad" (available on iTunes May 12th) features actress/singer, Leighton Meester of "Gossip Girl" fame. Meester is in the middle of recording her debut album for Universal Republic, working with such notable producer/writers including JR Rotem (Leona Lewis, Rihanna), Kara Dioguardi (who co-wrote "Good Girls Go Bad") (Kelly Clarkson, Ashley Tisdale), Polow Da Don (The Pussycat Dolls, Ciara), Harvey Mason Jr. (Britney Spears, Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson) and Spencer Nezey (Jupiter Rising). The Cobra Starship track is actually pretty likable. I can't say that I'm surprised. The big question mark for me was Leighton Meester's vocals. I guess I'm always hesitant when an actress becomes a singer. In all honest if the artist put outs a quality song and/or album, I don't care what sort of artist they are. Leighton's "Gossip Girl" co-star, Taylor Momsen and her band just reportedly got signed to Interscope Records. Again...if it's quality music, I'm all about giving it a chance.
