Arcade Fire autographed “Miroir Noir” to benefit Partners In Health Posted: 12 May 2009 09:51 AM PDT The members of Arcade Fire have signed 250 copies of the deluxe edition of the recently released Miroir Noir DVD and combined them with a limited edition hand silk-screened poster signed and numbered by the artist for a special package to benefit Partners In Health. The strictly limited deluxe signed edition with poster will be available exclusively at Arcadefire.com for $250 (plus shipping and handling), with all proceeds going to Partners In Health. Arcade Fire donated a share of ticket sales from every headlining show on the 2007 Neon Bible tour to Partners In Health’s program in Haiti, which focuses on delivering high quality healthcare to the poor. Members of the band have visited Haiti to witness firsthand the results of these donations, which also include sending thousands of children to school with hot meals, providing housing for the poorest patients, and increasing the agricultural capacity of those families. Portland’s Palatial Crest launches with showcase Posted: 12 May 2009 09:18 AM PDT Palatial Crest, a new, independent media label from Portland, Oregon is announcing their label with a showcase and a musical sample of each of their artists: Gejius; Very International Love; and GLASSMOUSTACHE&GAMESHOW. GLASSMOUSTACHE&GAMESHOW’s “!ASSYMETRICAL!WARRIOR!” has us dancing around the office, reminiscent of Treasure Fingers‘ “Cross the Dancefloor”. That, or it was stuck in our heads for no reason. Very International Love’s “Ice Party” follows in the same hyperactive vein while Genjius slows it down with “N L O V”. On June 6th, Palatial Crest will host its label showcase at The Artistery on SE Division Street for just $6. If you’re in Portland, check it out! Posted: 12 May 2009 08:17 AM PDT Van She, in my opinion, is one of the best bands in existence right now. In fact, they’re one of the best bands of this decade, and probably the last one, too. And yet they’re hardly known outside of the musical sphere in which they exist. I’ve been a pretty big fan of Van She for about four years now, since back in 2005 when they emerged from the sunny sands of Sydney, Australia. Though at the time they had only released a self titled EP with a few tracks on the ultra hip Australian label, Modular. And what amazing tracks they were. Modular described them as “a new band from Sydney, fresh on ideas, fresher than Flavor Flav, fresh like coriander, fresher than the Fresh Prince.” But they then remained deafeningly silent for years, releasing some remixes and a random track here and there. I always wondered why the hell haven’t I seen an album from these guys? And then finally last year the Aussie boys decided to release their debut, aptly titled, V. And it is great. And watch out for my review of it shortly so you get an in depth look at the gents from down under. But for the mean time we shall skip the contents of their stellar debut and stick with some remixes. .“Kelly” .Cut Copy Remix .M83 Remix .Lifelike Remix Related Posts |
