Music Is The Weapon - Afrobeat inspired funk from Sweden (Funk Valley Records, Soon) Posted: 04 May 2009 07:35 AM PDT I honestly thought I was one and done with the Swedish afrobeat stuff after my post on Afrobeat Movement. But turns out there’s another band from Sweden inspired by Fela Kuti. Music Is the Weapon is the band and they lay down a serious wall of funk. The main difference between Music Is The Weapon and Afrobeat Movement is in the size and scope of the band. Music is the weapon adds to the guitar interplay put forth by Afrobeat Movement with organ, trumpet, sax, a full horn section, and a glorious organ. On “Copy Riot” they also employ some ska based rap in an interlude in the middle of the song. Expect a full length album soon on Funk Valley Records.
