Amy Winehouse’s Parents Talk About Her… Again Posted: 16 Jun 2009 01:06 PM PDT Amy Winehouse can be described in lots of different ways - unique, talented, addicted, troublesome - you name it, she probably is it. And it’s this that makes her so interesting and so newsworthy. If she was just an ordinary, everyday female singer without those huge negatives of hers on display then she’d be pretty damn boring. I have maybe spoken about Amy Winehouse too much in the past. I admit that. But it was only because I knew people were interested by the sheer amount of traffic that headed towards the articles I wrote about her. There are a couple of people who speak about Winehouse even more than I do, and that is her parents. Her dad in particular seems to love having been thrust into the limelight because of his daughter. Both Amy’s parents are participating in a forthcoming documentary about her, and ITV News has reported on some of what the pair say about their daughter during it. Both quotes are via Digital Spy because the ITV News Web site is a bit rubbish.
Winehouse’s mum, Janis, speaks about her substance abuse and the battle to save her:
Winehouse’s dad, Mitch, speaks about her and Blake Fielder Civil’s relationship and the prospect of them getting back together:
I appreciate the difficult position Mitch and Janis Winehouse find themselves in, but I do have to wonder whether it’s really the best thing for Amy that they talk about her to the press at every given opportunity. Asked for a statement or quote on Winehouse, both will usually comply, regardless of whether it’s about Blake, her drug addiction, drinking, her attempts at suicide, spells in hospital, etc, etc. I feel the press, and blogs such as Brit Music Scene, have laid off Winehouse for a while now, ever since she holed herself up in St. Lucia in a clear attempt at getting away from it all. But are her parents affording her the same space and time to work things out? Maybe. But they’ll then be filmed or taped talking about her to a filmmaker, TV crew, or newspaper anyway. Which surely can’t be helping. [Photo Source: Newscom] Post from: Brit Music Scene |
