Nico Vega cancels US tour Posted: 18 Jun 2009 12:12 PM PDT To the Wonderful Nico Vega Fans and Family, I regret to inform you all that I have done some minor vocal damage while spitting and yowling like a banshee on stage. So, to prevent from doing any permanent damage, we regretfully have to cancel our US tour. That being said, we will be back in the game very soon, as we caught the problem before it did any lasting damage. There is nothing more important to me than bringing our music to you. This is what we live for, so I will do all that it takes to make sure we get there as soon as possible. We’d also like to apologize to our new friends in Children Collide. They are a great band and we hope you will check them out when they hit your town. Thank you for your love and support and I am so sorry for the inconvenience. We love you always, Aja and The Nico Vega crew Related Posts |

Win a chance to see No Doubt in Vegas! Posted: 18 Jun 2009 10:13 AM PDT This summer, State Farm is sponsoring No Doubt’s tour and is running a sweepstakes to send (4) lucky fans and their friends to the No Doubt concert in Las Vegas at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel Vegas on August 7th, complete with a Meet and Greet with the band! You can enter to win here: http://www.sfmusictour.com. Or if you are in Canada, you can enter to win here: www.sfmusictour.ca. (Popwreckoning is in no way associate with choosing the winners for this contest!) Four winners will be selected and each winner and 3 of their friends will receive VIP treatment for a 3 day/2 night trip to the No Doubt concert in Las Vegas at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel Vegas on August 7th. The winner's VIP treatment will include: - airfare - hotel - $1000 of spending money - limo service - autographed merchandise - and a chance to meet the band! This is probably the coolest contest going on all summer. Don’t miss out on entering to win a chance to not only hang in Las Vegas on State Farm’s dime, but also to see and meet modern legends No Doubt! Tragic Kingdom was the very first CD I ever bought (an embarrassing list of cassette tapes precedes and will never again be mentioned), so you know I’m entering, especially since I wasn’t able to make the Philly show. Join me in entering to win a killer trip at http://www.sfmusictour.com! No Doubt: website | myspace Related Posts - June 16, 2009 — Win Ida Maria tickets for Kansas City and prize packs! (0)

Viva Voce @ The Firebird, St. Louis Posted: 18 Jun 2009 08:05 AM PDT I wandered into The Firebird, formerly The Bluebird, to catch a band I saw open up for The Shins a few years back by the name of Viva Voce. It was my first time I had been back in the venue since the renaming and remodeling that occurred after my sweaty good time at The Ting Tings warm up show for Lollapalooza last year. After noticing the improved lighting, I was rather grateful. Needless to say, this show was not at all what I was expecting from the get go. The bands doubling in members from two to four really complimented and completed their fuzz rock sound in addition to confusing me briefly until I recognized Kevin and Anita as they took the stage. This addition to the band gives the married couple, Kevin and Anita Robinson, a little more freedom by not having so much instrumental responsibility, paving the way for Anita to wail away on her guitar and Kevin to step out from behind the drum kit, add some bass to the equation, in addition to complimenting his wife's soulful voice with deep, raspy back up vocals. Their rather breezy 11-song headlining set mostly focused on tracks from their recent critically-praised release, Rose City, aptly named after their hometown of Portland, Oregon. Catch the band as their tour makes its way back home to Portland. Set List: Devotion Die A Little When Planets Collide Alive With Pleasure Octavio Midnight Sun The Slow Fade Red Letter Day Lesson #1 Free Nude Celebs Wrecking Ball Tour Dates: June 18 – Bottom of The Hill / San Francisco, CA June 20 – Wonder Ballroom / Portland, OR Viva Voce: website | myspace Rose City Price: USD 11.99 30 used & new available from USD 3.95 Related Posts - May 21, 2009 — Keane with the Helio Sequence and Mat Kearney @ DAR Constitution Hall, Washington D.C.
