Katy Perry “Waking Up in Vegas” Video

By now, you've probably seen the video for Katy Perry's newest single "Waking Up in Vegas" but, since this song continues to pick up momentum, I thought I'd write about it (plus, it came out katy perry waking up in vegasbefore I started writing on this blog!).

I don't think "Vegas" has the same catchiness as Katy's earlier hits "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot and Cold" but I think the lyrics and video make up for that.  Another bonus is that it's a lot more upbeat than "Thinking of You," her third release from her One of the Boys album.

To add authenticity, the video was actually shot in Las Vegas with the casino and room scenes taking place at the Palms hotel (and, yes, that is Penn and Teller that she kicks out!).  I appreciate the retro style and sound that Katy brings to her music but I do think that she borders on attention-seeking which I think detracts from her image.  After a while, it just starts to feel overly gimmicky and cheesy.   Still, she has some of the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen.  Check it out here:
