Amy Winehouse Leaves St. Lucia - Without New Album Posted: 12 Jul 2009 10:37 AM PDT Amy Winehouse has spent virtually the past six months or so living on the island of St. Lucia. What started out as a winter holiday in order to take time away from the pressures of fame, the temptations in London, and he estranged husband Blake Fielder-Civil, became a complete change of lifestyle for Winehouse. But now it seems she’s had enough of the Caribbean and is on her way back to the U.K. The only problem is she’s coming back without having produced the long-awaited new album. To suggest Winehouse’s life in the U.K. was somewhat tumultuous is an understatement. It seemed she was either out on the town being papped falling out of clubs, or ensconced in her house with Blake doing whatever two druggies do when they have an abundance of time and money on their hands. So Winehouse took a break from living in Britain and gave St. Lucia a try. In January she was alleged to have found new love. While February seemed to suggest nothing had actually changed bar the location, as she landed herself in hospital yet again after drinking until she collapsed.
Since March the focus has been more on he attempts at recording a new album, an album which her record label is demanding she gets on an produces. Mark Ronson was rumored to be involved, and then reports last month suggested Winehouse was set on making a St. Lucia-inspired album. Which, quite frankly, sounds awful. Now, according to The Mirror, Winehouse is returning to the U.K. empty-handed. A source told the newspaper:
The problem is that her record label has supported Winehouse while she’s been staying in St. Lucia, spending a fortune to try and get her to record her next album, the follow-up to Back To Black. It seems now as though that money has been wasted, as Winehouse has done nothing productive with it and instead spent her time in St. Lucia relaxing and getting very drunk. Island Records won’t be very happy but is unlikely to do anything about it. The label knows Winehouse is a goldmine just waiting to be tapped, if only she’ll produce a new album guaranteed to sell around the world. The problem is that Winehouse also realizes the power she currently holds and knows she can pretty much get away with anything. [Photo Source: Newscom] Post from: Brit Music Scene |
