Pink “Funhouse” Lyrics and Music Video

Pink has released her fourth single, "Funhouse" which is from her album of the same title. As with her earlier tracks "”So What,” “Sober” and “Please Don’t Leave Me,” this newest song seems to reflect the emotions and changes she went through as she separated from her husband, Carey Hart (they seem to be spending a lot more together lately, though).

Of course, the end of a marriage is a very sad experience and I wouldn't wish it on anyone but I feel that it has really made her newest music so poignant.  She has always been upfront and honest in her lyrics but now there is an edge and even a freedom in the sound of her voice that I have't heard before.  It's like she's sad and carefree at the same time.

With "Funhouse" you could, of course, take it literally and assume she's talking about some attraction at a theme park but really she's talking about the life and home she used to have and how things have changed for the worse over time.   She talks about "pictures framing up the past" and in what I assume is a reference to her husband says "your taunting smirk behind the glass."  Later she sings "I’d rather live out on the street than in this haunted memory."  Yeah, she's definitely angry or bitter about more than clowns and distorted mirrors.

Watch the video (mature language warning).  Catch the lyrics after the jump!

I dance around this empty house
Tear us down
Throw you out
Screaming down the halls
Spinning all around and now we fall

Pictures framing up the past
Your taunting smirk behind the glass
This museum full of ash
Once a tickle
Now a rash

This used to be a funhouse
But now it’s full of evil clowns
It’s time to start the countdown
I’m gonna burn it down down down
I’m gonna burn it down

9, 8, 7, 6 5 4, 3, 2, 1, fun

Echoes knocking on locked doors
All the laughter from before
I’d rather live out on the street
Than in this haunted memory

I’ve called the movers
Called the maids
We’ll try to exorcise this place
Drag my mattress to the yard
Crumble tumble house of cards

This used to be a funhouse
But now it’s full of evil clowns
It’s time to start the countdown
I’m gonna burn it down down down
I’m gonna burn it down

This used to be a funhouse
But now it’s full of evil clowns
It’s time to start the countdown
I’m gonna burn it down down down
I’m gonna burn it down

9, 8, 7, 6 5 4, 3, 2, 1, fun

Oh, I’m crawling through the doggy door
My key don’t fit my life no more
I’ll change the drapes
I’ll break the plates
I’ll find a new place
Burn this f**ker down

do do do do dodo do
do do do do dodo do
do do do do dodo do
do do do do dadadada
do do do do dodo do (9, 8, 7, 6 5 4, 3, 2, 1)
do do do do dodo do
do do do do dodo do
do do do do dodo doo

This used to be a funhouse
But now it’s full of evil clowns
It’s time to start the countdown
I’m gonna burn it down down down
I’m gonna burn it down
This used to be a funhouse
But now it’s full of evil clowns
It’s time to start the countdown
I’m gonna burn it down down down
I’m gonna burn it down
