Imogen Heap “First Train Home” MP3 Download

Posted: 23 Jul 2009 11:48 PM PDT

Have you heard Imogen Heap's new song "First Train Home" ?  imogen heap first train home If you haven't, you've got to check it out.  Imogen is one of those artists who continues to come up with intricate and beautiful new music and this is no exception.

Her voice is so distinctive – you really can't mistake her for anyone else and if someone came along and sounded just like her, we would know they were trying to be a copy-cat.  I love artists like that.  There can never be another Imogen Heap.

You probably know her best from songs like "Hide and Seek" and from her time in the group Frou Frou (their song "Let Go" was featured on the Garden State soundtrack).

This new single "First Train Home" is from her upcoming album, Ellipse, which will be released on August 25, 2009.

“VH1 Divas” Returns – What Do You Think of the Lineup?

Posted: 23 Jul 2009 10:47 AM PDT

It's been four years since the last one aired but VH1 Divas is returning and will feature performances by Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus.  What do you think of the artists they chose?  I'm really not impressed.  There isn't a "legend" in the bunch to anchor these young singers and I don't find that there is enough variety here.  Let's go one by one.adele 19

I love, love, love Adele.  The British singer/songwriter is absolutely brilliant and I love the quality of her voice.  With hit songs like "Chasing Pavements" and "Cold Shoulder" from her 19 album, she's won over critics and fans.

I am looking forward to seeing what she does on the show.  I feel like she's unique without trying too hard.  The control she's got over her vocals is really amazing and from what I've seen of her live performances, you'd think she's been in the business for a long time.

kelly_clarkson_all_i_ever_wanted_album_cover Kelly Clarkson is the original American Idol and she definitely can sing.  She's got a new album All I Ever Wanted which is performing very well on the charts and is fuelled by great singles like "My Life Would Suck Without You" and "I Don't Hook Up."

I think that she pulls off the diva mantle enough to warrant inclusion and I think she's the most seasoned veteran in the bunch.

leona lewis Another British singer, Leona Lewis, has been tapped and you probably know the X Factor winner best for her smash hit "Bleeding Love."  She released the far less successful song "Better in Time" but really, that's basically it.

I think she's got a very distinct voice but, like Adele, I'm not sure Leona is well-known enough to attract viewers.

The inclusion of Miley Cyrus baffles me.  Is she a successful pop star?  Yes.  Does she have a popular television show (Hannah Montana)?  Yes.  Does she have a famous miley cyrus breakoutdaddy (Billy Ray Cyrus)?  Yes.  Is she a decent singer?  Yes.  Is she diva-worthy?  Um… not so much.  Not only is she very young but her singing and music is lightweight in comparison with the other three even though she's probably more famous than Leona and Adele combined.  I feel like she was just thrown in here to bring in the young viewers and I can't fault VH1 for wanting ratings but it's been four years since they put together this special and I would have thought they would have put more effort into it.

Just look at the roster from former years: Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Cher, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Chaka Khan and many more.  Those are some big names with even bigger voices and I think every one of them qualifies as a diva.

Anyway, I could go on and on so I'll just stop myself know and give you some details about the show.  Fans can go now to Divas.VH1.com to submit a "Diva Stories" text or video testimonial that tells the world how their favorite diva has influenced their life.  The network wants to hear about your favorite songs, moments and the insane stuff you've done to try to show your love for a diva.  You can also follow all show-related news and details on Twitter - http://twitter.com/vh1divas.

The "VH1 Divas" concert will be televised live on VH1 on Thursday, September 17 at 9:00pm.*

Heidi Pratt to Perform at Miss Universe Pageant

Posted: 23 Jul 2009 10:16 AM PDT

Heidi Montag has been invited to perform at the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant and I'm seriously scared.  The 22-year-old star of MTV's The Hills, will be singing "Turn Ya Head" which is currently available on her EP heidi montagWherever I Am.  She will be releasing her album Unleashed (in stores September 23, 2009).

I know that Heidi and her husband, Spencer Pratt, are attention-seekers and they get a lot of flack in the press for it but I have nothing against the girl.  HOWEVER, I don't think she should be singing.

Do you remember that awful song "Higher"?  Not only was the song terrible but the video has to be the worst I've ever seen from someone who could afford a bigger budget.  It was unreal.

Anyway, if you are a fan and would like to tune in to watch Heidi perform live, the pageant airs on August 23, 2009.
