Another Album Art Update

Posted: 26 Aug 2009 10:39 PM PDT

Another album art update! Do I need to apologize? I don't think so. I love this stuff so I'm just going to keep going. With the exception of the Preston artwork (from Covermania), everything comes from Coverlandia.

Preston - Dressed To Kill
27 year old Samuel Dylan Murray Preston AKA Preston is HOT. Just check out this interview he recently did with Popjustice. Skinny, tattoos, funky haircut - what's not to love? Oh. He's got a great voice to boot! Preston was the lead singer of the British indie band, The Ordinary Boys, which saw some modest success over in the UK. He also finished fourth on Celebrity Big Brother back in 2006. "Dressed To Kill" is the first single off his upcoming solo album, Whatever Forever, due out sometime this Fall. The single was released this week and features remixes by Michael Gray, James Doman, Juan Kidd and Starsmith.

Paulina Rubio - Causa y Efecto Urban Mix

This is a hot track...well...the original version is anyway. I haven't listened to the "Urban Mix" just yet. I haven't really listened to much of Paulina Rubio since her 2002 hit "Don't Say Goodbye." Rubio's had a great deal of success on Billboard's Latin Charts over the years, but hasn't really ever hit mainstream radio as hard as she did with her Border Girl album. This song makes me want to listen to her new album, Gran City Pop which came out in June and has already sold 200,000 + copies in the U.S. The second single is "Ni Rosas Ni Juguetes" and was released on August 14th. (P.S. - check out this Spanglish duet of "When You Say Nothing At All" with Ronan Keating.)

Katharine McPhee - Unbroken
I'll be doing a more in depth Katharine McPhee post at a later date, but for now, here's the recently released album artwork for her second solo record, Unbroken (out October 6th). As I mentioned in my last album art update (this morning), the first single from Unbroken is "Had It All" and that's out now digitally. Still lovin' the blond bob and the subtle bits of pink. Nice album artwork.

YES! It's about time we got some artwork for this track. Jordin is looking mighty fit! The second single off of Jordin Sparks' Battlefield album and follow up to the title track, "S.O.S. (Let The Music Play)" is a radio-friendly pop jam. It's due out October 5th in the UK and contains a heavy sample of Shannon's 80s dance classic, "Let The Music Play." I love this song and am definitely ready for something more up-tempo from Ms. Sparks. While I agree with some bloggers/critics that this song isn't horribly original (I mean more than just sampling another song!) it's fun and has major Top 40 potential. The video was shot by Chris Robinson, who also worked with Sparks on the "No Air" video. Don't forget to check out this Matt Pendergast remix of the track. Hopefully we'll get some more remixes in the not-to-distant future.

Jade Ewen - My Man I'm not going to go into much detail about Jade Ewen, other than to say I love this album artwork. When I mentioned her "My Man" video earlier this month, I included a press photo of Jade. Turns out the same photo was cropped and used as the single sleeve art. She looks great! As for remixes...I still haven't heard anything besides the Cahill mixes, which I'm still enjoying the quite a lot. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing her album, Punching Out, due in September.

HOT SONG ALERT: Alexandra Burke feat. Flo-Rida - Bad Boys

Posted: 26 Aug 2009 10:09 PM PDT

Alexandra Burke - 2009
I've been excited about hearing new Alexandra Burke music since after I heard her rendition of "Hallelujah." Wow. It has been well worth the wait, let me tell you that! I've only even heard a clip of the song and I'm already salivating at the thought of the full length release, music video, album/single artwork...this girl has super star potential written all over.

Alexandra Burke 2009
"Bad Boys" (out October 9th) will be the lead single off of Alexandra Burke's debut album, due out October 26 in the UK. The single, featuring an appearance by Flo-Rida was produced by The Phantom Boyz has a little bit of everything...electro-pop, R&B, hip hop...I can't wait for this one! Popjustice really loves the track, calling it "phenomenal," and comparing it with Britney Spears' "Womanizer." I totally see the comparison, and I think it's a good thing, personally.

Alexandra Burke 2009
I predict big things for the X-Factor winner. She could very well have released another ballad as her next single - I think a club-stomper was the right route for her. Signed to Epic in the U.S., there's no word on what her first U.S. single will be or when we can expect it. Working with Burke on her debut album we have Stargate, The Freemasons, Andrea Martin, Pharrell Williams, Akon, Steve Mac among others. Sounds hot hot hot!

HOT SONG ALERT: The Saturdays - Forever Is Over

Posted: 26 Aug 2009 09:34 PM PDT

Wow! UK girl group The Saturdays are working HARD to keep the momentum going over in the UK, releasing a new single AND album just months after releasing their final single off of Chasing Lights. The debut album from the girls offered 4 top 10 singles ("If This Is Love" - #8, "Up" - #5, "Issues" - #4, "Just Can't Get Enough" - #2)! Their lowest charting single, "Work" peaked at #22. Not bad at all ladies!

The Saturdays

New single "Forever Is Over" (out October 5th) is the first single off of the girls' upcoming second album, Colonial Masses, due out in 2009. I like this single. It's less electro than previous singles, focusing more on the girls vocal talent. WOW. These girls can sing! It's always hard showcasing individual members' talent with girl groups as large as this, but this video does a really good job. The vocals are strong and the beat is catchy. I hate to compare to another girl group, but this song and video reminds me of a Girls Aloud track...or something that Girls Aloud might do. I don't think that's a bad thing at all. I love this song!

HOT SOUNDTRACK ALERT: FAME

Posted: 26 Aug 2009 09:05 PM PDT

I TOTALLY forgot that the soundtrack for the FAME 2009 remake was released on Tuesday. OOPS! Oh...you can also get the full length club mixes and the radio edits on iTunes of "Fame." Check those out now! Amy Studt Cancels Trip/Move to the USA & Stays in the UK

Posted: 26 Aug 2009 08:52 PM PDT

Boo. I'm a little bummed to hear that UK singer, Amy Studt, will be staying in the UK. Back in July Amy blogged about plans to move to New York, after a successful stay in the Big Apple this past year. Well...plans have seemingly changed. According to Amy's last blog on August 19th, she's staying across the pond for the time being.

Studt blogs about moving to a house in the country, setting up her own studio and do some writing. According to Studt via the blog, "I decided it was best to stay in the UK and work on what I have here for the time being but I will still be aiming to move to the US in the future, it was AMAZING."

Totally understandable. Come on over to the states when you're ready Amy. I'm still hoping to catch a gig of yours one day.

To Rock or Not To Rock: Should I Go To the Perez Hilton Presents Tour 2009?

Posted: 26 Aug 2009 08:14 PM PDT

ARG. No money! Too many other expenses. As a self diagnosed "Fool_4_Music" I love going to see a live gig WHENEVER I can. Just saw the Noisettes, going to see Kylie Minogue in October, Ray LaMontagne and Girl Talk in November...

Perez Hilton Presents Tour Lineup My predicament is DO I GO and see the Perez Hilton Presents Tour 2009? I'm very tempted. Performing at the House of Blues in Boston on September 14th we have: Ladyhawke, Ida Maria, Semi Precious Weapons and (my favorite) Frankmusik. Missing from the lineup that night? Sliimy, Eric Hutchinson and Julian Perretta. I feel like these artists are all part of that NEXT BIG THING wave of bands from Europe crossing over here. Now is my chance to see them, right? Before they all blow up or fizzle away back to Europe? Tickets are only $27.00 each ($24.00 each if I get a four pack). Anyone in Boston want to go with me? That's a lot of music for $27.00 + $10 - $12 in service fees! Let me know!

The tour kicks things off in Atlanta on September 10th, 2009. Check out the list of tour dates and buy your tickets HERE!

HOT SONG ALERT: The Fray - Heartless

The Fray - Heartless

I know I'm a bit late here...but this version of the song is so...pretty. I love it! I quite enjoy The Fray, and I quite enjoy the original Kanye West version. "Heartless" is quite the cover-worthy song apparently - Kris Allen did it on Idol as well (which I also loved).

Calvin Harris & The HUMANTHESIZER

Posted: 26 Aug 2009 07:31 PM PDT

Calvin Harris - Ready For The WeekendI heart the new Calvin Harris single, "Ready For The Weekend." With guest vocals by the brilliant Mary Pearce, a cool video, sweet single artwork...how could the second single off of Calvin Harris's new album get any better? Enter the HUMANTHESIZER. Harris teamed up with Sony Music UK and Bare Conductive Body Ink to create this AWESOME live performance of the new single with the world's first human synthesizer. This special paint basically makes the models in this video the instruments. Very cool! Check it out HERE! - Via engadget

Jake Shears, Calvin Harris and Kylie MinogueAlso worth noting...Calvin Harris tweeted today, a picture of him, Jake Shears (of the Scissor Sisters) and Kylie Minogue in the studio together. HOT. Can't wait to hear what they are coming up with. ALSO can't wait to see Kylie in a little over 1 month! So exciting!
