Paula Abdul twitters she's leaving Idol

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 11:15 PM PDT

OMG! This is not happening! Paula Abdul twitters she's leaving Idol. That's right. Tonight, Paula Abdul announced on her twitter page that she is not returning to American Idol.

Fox has issued a statement saying, "Paula Abdul has been an important part of the 'American Idol' family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show. While Paula will not be continuing with us, she's a tremendous talent and we wish her the best."

Revolt everyone! We don't need Kara DioGuardi in Idol!

Update from LA Times
:
Host Ryan Seacrest recently signed a deal paying him $10 million starting in 2010 that is being paid for by 19 Entertainment. Abdul, according to people close to the show, wanted a similar paycheck from Fox. She was making between $2 million and $4 million a year and wanted a significant raise, these people said. (Those close to Abdul put the salary figure on the lower end of that spectrum.) Fox was apparently willing to go north of $5 million a year for three years.
