Joy Ike to play Milkboy Coffee on August 29th Posted: 23 Aug 2009 10:45 AM PDT On Saturday, August 29th, Popwreckoning favorite Joy Ike will be playing at Ardmore (just outside of Philadelphia), Pennsylvania’s Milkboy Coffee with Brooke Annibale and Joel Rakes. The show starts at 8PM and tickets are $8 in advance or $10 day of. Ike released debut Good Morning last year to great acclaim. Fellow blog Wildy’s World says, “Joy Ike is the real deal; a singer/songwriter with something to say and ample to talent to deliver it. A warm and inviting voice wrapped up in strong and generous piano-driven pop/rock arrangements is the general recipe for Ike, who may be the best thing to come out Western Pennsylvania in a decade or more.” We think you’d be hard-pressed to disagree. Milkboy Coffee If you’re closer to the middle of the state, you can catch Joy today at the Flood City Festival in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. You can also catch Grace Potter and the Nocturnals at the fest, too! Tour Dates: Related PostsThis posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
MP3 Minute: Blane Fonda – “Salacious Love” Posted: 23 Aug 2009 08:30 AM PDT Newly formed (debuted April of this year) Chicago outfit Blane Fonda, featuring former front man of Technicolour Stallion, Mark Wetzel, and The Sapiens sans front man, just this month released a seven song EP titled Master of Stars and Broken Arms. Blane Fonda has received a lot of great press, including the honor of being The Deli’s Chicago Artist of Month. We’re excited to bring you “Salacious Love,” a slick and lusty three and a half minute track sandwiched right in the middle of Master of Stars and Broken Arms. “Salacious Love” opens with urgent keys flowing into Wetzel’s bordering on falsetto vocals. The drums kick up as Wetzel sings, “Here we are together / at some salacious bar, / and I’m looking for love at the bottom of every cup. / I feel you hand on my knee as you order me another drink…” Sexy and salacious indeed. Blane Fonda – “Salacious Love” Metromix Chicago says “While the Sapiens were promising but a little fidgety, Blane Fonda both tightens up and extends itself, as keyboardist Matt Witt often takes the lead and pushes certain grooves…into synth-heavy, bombastically sweaty territory.” If you like what you hear (we certainly do!), be sure to download Blane Fonda’s EP on Amazon today!
