Shakira “She Wolf” Video Poll – Love It or Hate It?

Posted: 07 Aug 2009 01:09 AM PDT

I've had a couple weeks to get used to Shakira's new song "She Wolf" and, while I think it's a new sound for her, I think the song is pretty catchy.  she wolf shakiraThe track is the first release from Shakira's English-language album, She Wolf, which is due some time in October, 2009 (a Spanish album is expected in 2010).

The beat is infused with a little disco, some modern dance beats and lots of fun lyrics.  It's one of those tracks that you just can't spend too much time thinking about (as is the case with most Shakira songs) – you just dance.

So… we've got to talk a little bit about the video, which was released late last week.  I'm used to Shakira's trademark girating moves (have you seen the video for "La Tortura"?  If not, you must check it out!) but she really outdoes herself this time!  I think she borders on looking a bit trashy, if you ask me.

I think that women can look sexy and sensual and I don't believe that there's anything wrong with using our bodies but I do think that there is a tasteful way to do it and Shakira misses the mark.  Plus, I think the dance sequences in the black dress at the end of the video look really, really cheap.

Watch the video and decide for yourself:

Now that you've had a chance to watch it, what did you think?  Do you love it or hate it?  Take the poll below and/or leave me a comment!

Fefe Dobson “I Want You” Music Video

Posted: 06 Aug 2009 05:32 PM PDT

The video for Fefe Dobson's new single "I Want You" has been released.  I'm happy for her.  The Canadian singer/songwriter burst onto the scene when her debut self-titled album was released in 2003.  Her singles fefe dobson I want you"Bye, Bye Boyfriend," "Everything" and "Don't Go (Girls and Boys)" became really popular ("Everything" and "Unforgiven" were included on The Perfect Storm soundtrack) and it all seemed like things were going well for her.

Unfortunately, her 2006 album, Sunday Love, didn't do as well as she had hoped (although her track "Don't Let it Go To Your Head" has been resurrected in the form of a cover by Jordin Sparks on her Battlefield album) and she was dropped by Island Records.

Now Fefe has gone independent and seems to be doing just fine without a major label deal!  She co-wrote the song "Start All Over" which was recorded by Miley Cyrus (with Fefe's backup vocals) for the Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus album and her song "Watch Me Move" was used to promote Lipstick Jungle in 2008.

Her newest single "I Want You" is from her upcoming album, Joy, which is expected to be released sometime this fall.  In the meantime, check out the video:
