La Roux’s Elly Jackson Talks Taylor Swift and Kanye West Posted: 18 Sep 2009 07:00 PM PDT I’m sure there aren’t many of you that are unaware of the big event that’s happened this last week. No, not the ongoing healthcare debate in the States, or any of the wars raging around the world, or the continuing financial mess we find ourselves in. No, the big news event was Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs in order to big up Beyonce. The thing about the incident is that most people think exactly the same way. That is that Kanye West is a dick for doing what he did, and Taylor Swift should not have had her big moment ruined by a rapper on a mission who has drunk one too many glasses of Cristal. However, we also secretly think his basic point was correct, and that Beyonce should have won ‘Best Music Video’ for Single Ladies over whatever song by Taylor Swift it was that actually won.
In an interview with BBC Radio 1, La Roux singer Elly Jackson said this exact same thing, calling Kanye “a jackass” but dismissing Taylor Swift’s music as “manufactured princess pop.” She said:
Spot on. And even the President of the United States, Barack Obama, agrees, being caught on tape discussing the incident and himself referring to Kanye West as a jackass. I wonder if Kanye has got the picture yet? [Photo Source: Amazon.co.uk] Post from: Brit Music Scene |
Sugababes – Amelle Berrabah Out, Jade Ewan In? Posted: 18 Sep 2009 12:00 PM PDT It looks as though the revolving door that is the Sugababes has swung open once again, with reports that Amelle Berrabah has quit, only to be replaced by Jade Ewan. Although yet to be confirmed this would tie in with a reported spat last week which saw Amelle disappear for days, missing a string of public appearances in the process, after a fight with Keisha Buchanan. In the aftermath of the fight, there were reports Berrabah was preparing to quit. Now, according to Heatworld, it’s actually happened. What’s more, a replacement has already been found in the form of Jade Ewan, the 21-year-old singer who represented Great Britain in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Sugababes are one of those groups that just doesn’t seem able to hang on to its members. Founding member Siobhan Donaghy left in 2001 to be replaced by Heidi Range, while Mutya Buena left in 2005 to be replace by Berrabah. It’s thought that Buchanan is difficult to work with, and the fact that her bandmates drop like flies around her would suggest that’s true. [Photo Source: Newscom] Post from: Brit Music Scene |
