Robbie Williams And Take That Reunited In Music Studio

Posted: 28 Sep 2009 06:39 PM PDT

A Robbie Williams/Take That reunion has been on the cards for months now, and it looks like it might now have finally happened. Kind of. The Daily Mirror is reporting that Take That and Robbie entered the studio together in New York to start working on some new songs together. Which, if true, is huge news.

Take That

Robbie Williams probably doesn’t regret his decision to leave Take That when he did. The time was ripe for him to go solo and he managed to forge an amazing career from the ashes of Take That. Meanwhile, Gary Barlow and the rest of the lads failed to do anything of note until they reformed in 2005.

Since then the situation has changed a little. Take That are looking and sounding better than ever, while Robbie has struggled to maintain his level of success ever since Guy Chambers bid him a less-than-fond farewell. Is it coincidence then that Robbie has been engineering a reunion?

The newspaper claims that what was originally intended as a celebration of Mark Owen’s stag do ended up being a mini reunion when the five lads booked a recording session at the Electric Lady Studios. A source said:

“He is back with Take That in the studio and they’re all writing together again. Robbie wouldn’t be happy performing old Take That songs that he has had no part in. But if they can pen new tracks that they’re all happy with, they’ll record them and hell be back with them on stage.”

If true then this signals the first time the five of them have been in the same room working on music in 14 years. But it still isn’t clear whether anything concrete will come of it.

Robbie is gearing up for the release of his new album, Reality Killed The Video Star, preceded by the single, Bodies. While Take That are working on a live double album. So this is far from being surefire thing as of yet.

As ever, watch this space.

‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds’ Dies – Beatles Fans Mourn

Posted: 28 Sep 2009 11:38 AM PDT

The inspiration behind the classic Beatles hit, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, has died at the tender age of just 46 after losing a long fight with Lupus. And there was me thinking that the song was all about LSD and the effects of a trip on the hallucinogenic drug. I guess I was wrong.

The story goes that Lucy Vodden was a childhood friend of John Lennon’s son Julian. In 1966, he returned home from nursery school with a picture of Lucy with diamond-shaped eyes and when asked explained it was Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

A year later and the genius that was John Lennon had used that incident as inspiration to write and record it as a song. In 1967, it appeared on the seminal Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Unfortunately, according to BBC News, Lucy Vodden has now passed away from Lupus. The St Thomas Lupus Trust claimed that both Julian and Cynhtia Lennon (John’s first wife) were “shocked and saddened” by her passing away.
