The All-American Rejects Rock New York City

Posted: 16 Sep 2009 06:12 PM PDT

1822The All-American Rejects got busy in New York City this week starting off with a special performance of their hit single “Gives You Hell.” They took the stage with house band Wale at MTV’s VMAs show where front man Tyson Ritter debuted a new glittery look. After rocking the proverbial house, Ritter caught up with MTV news and confirmed the long standing rumor that he will in fact be teaming up with pop powerhouse Rihanna for a yet to be recorded track. With AAR’s stock rising by the day, it only made sense for the quartet to cap their week by ringing the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange.

The All-American Rejects’ album When The World Comes Down featuring “Gives You Hell” and “I Wanna” is in stores now. For more information visit www.allamericanrejects.com.

The Rock Dose Interviews Something to Burn

Posted: 16 Sep 2009 03:44 PM PDT

I was pleased to have a chance to interview the band Something to Burn today, finding out a bit about the band and their new album, titled Transitions. Check it out below!

The Rock Dose: Thanks for taking some time to answer a few questions… first could you introduce us to Something to Burn? What unique strength does each member bring to the band?

Something to Burn:

Greg – singer, he possesses the power of being unpredictable.

Shawn – Drummer, random melody lines of pure gold.

Jeff – Bass, knowledge of the industry.

Jimmy – Guitar, great songwriter & artist.

TRD: What is the inspiration behind the name “Something to Burn”?

STB: It's a name about moving on into a different era of music and the way the industry is now. Time to get with the program or be left in the dust.

TRD: Transitions was released on September 15th… how happy are you with the final product?

STB: It's out now kids, go get it! The final product is badass, the disc as a whole from the tunes to the artwork, it makes a freaking statement.

TRD: What’s it like to be working with the great Scott Weiland? What have you learned from him?

STB: Haha, well we learned to be patient, he is a great guy and we all just clicked, too many things to take away from someone that's seen it all like he has.

TRD: In November, you have a show scheduled with Steel Panther… who are all the women going to be waiting for after the show? What other bands have you shared stages with?

STB: They will be waiting for all of us of course, have you seen what we look like, haha! We have shared the stage with Stone Temple Pilots, Shinedown, Meriwether, all kinds of great bands, we just played the Sunset Strip Music Festival where the great Ozzy played as well.

TRD: Are you planning on doing a large scale tour in the near future?

STB: That's the plan, play some shows throughout the remainder of the year and then the plan is to hit the road with STP and whoever else will have us.

TRD: Do you have one story from the road or from shows that really sticks out in your mind? Do tell!

STB: An outdoor show in Oklahoma City with STP, it was 115 degrees plus humidity and people were still out there rocking out, drinking beer and could care less that they were all beet red. People in Oklahoma are freaking crazy we love it.

TRD: Obligatory “must ask” question: Who are some of the major influences behind your music?

STB: Any good rock band from the past 30 years to be quite honest from bands like Tool all the way to Kiss, as well as a lot of new bands out there like the Almost, Blindside & Papa Roach's new stuff, we love everything.

TRD: Do you have anything you’d like to add?

STB: Grab the disc online at somethingtoburn.com or softdriverecords.com or iTunes, hit us up on all the MySpace's and Facebooks and sh*t, we love to talk to new people and come see us live & rock the **** out!

something_to_burn_fbookThanks again for the great interview! Seriously, this is one of the best debut albums I have heard in a very long time. Do yourselves a favor and buy Transitions. That way, you know the music when you check out Something to Burn at one (or more) of these shows:

9/19 – Anchorage, AK @ Chillkoot Charlies

10/2 – Hollywood, CA @ The Roxy (CD Release Party)

10/26 – Santa Rosa, CA @ Last Day Saloon

11/23 – Hollywood, CA @ The Key Club w/ Steel Panther
