Jennifer Lopez Hitting the Studio with Pharrell Williams

Posted: 15 Sep 2009 02:13 PM PDT

At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Pitbull, who is working with Jennifer Lopez on her new album, claimed that the singer has been hitting the studio with Pharrell Williams. Jenny from the block has been working on a new track called "Lola" which is being produced by Pharrell. He is also expected to be heard on the hook of the song.

Furthermore, JLo has already supposedly filmed a music video for her duet with Pitbull, which could be released some time this month. The "I Know You Want Me" singer spoke of his music video with JLo , describing it as "an upscale Eyes Wide Shut - where my role is being taken advantage of by these beautiful women who are, like, massaging me."

Jennifer herself has said that we'll be seeing her album released in 2010 and to expect her new single in September. Other names associated with Jennifer's new effort are Johnta Austin and Mike Caren. Still no news as to what she'll be naming this album.

Though, I'm not a big fan of Pitbull, I am pretty interested to see what music they'll make together. It could be good!

New Alicia Keys Track “Doesn’t Mean Anything” – Audio

Posted: 15 Sep 2009 01:53 PM PDT

Alicia Keys is giving us a little sneak peek of what is supposed to be the lead single off of her upcoming album. The song is called "Doesn't Mean Anything" and is expected to be released on the radio on September 30th.

It's a mid-tempo beat and from this really short snippet it sounds like it could be promising! Alicia's last album, As I Am, which delivered great hits such as "No One" and "Teenage Love Affair", was named the number best-selling album in the U.S. for 2008. All of her albums have reached #1 on the Billboard 200, so we've got to expect another hit from Keys.

Alicia has also been busy in the studio, with Whitney Houston. She's said to have written a song called "Million Dollar Bill" for Houston's comeback album. Rumor has it that we should be seeing a music video for it as soon as tomorrow. Guess we'll have to wait and see!

I'm pretty excited to hear what the final project of that song will be and how the rest of the album will turn out as well. It's unsure what the name of this effort is and just when it should be hitting store shelves, but hopefully it's soon!

KSM “Read Between the Lines” Album Review

Posted: 15 Sep 2009 09:20 AM PDT

KSM releases their debut album, Read Between The Lines, on iTunes today and on CD September 22, 2009.

Signed to Walt Disney Records, this all-female pop rock band hails from Los Angeles and consists of Shelby Cobra (lead vocals), Katie Cecil (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Sophia Melon (bass guitar, backing vocals), Shae Padilla (lead guitar) and Kate Cabebe (drums).

KSMInitially, KSM was formed as a four-member pop group back in 2006 but when The Go-Go’s expressed their desire to mentor a "new all-girl teen rock band," Shelby Cobra joined the band and the girls took on more of a rock sound.

Listening to Read Between The Lines, I've got to say that they have accomplished their goal of creating a pop rock sound that their target audience will really love and identify with.

The songs are guitar-driven and more than a little fun.  Shelby's vocals are perfect for the genre and at times she sounds a lot like a lead singer in an 80s rock band and then on tracks like "Distracted" she channels a young Gwen Stefani.

I have to say that I was actually a little surprised by how good this album is as a whole and you won't be able to resist singing along to infectious tracks like "Permission to Party" and, of course, their cover of "I Want You to Want Me" which is the theme song for the ABC Family series 10 Things I Hate About You.

While I really did like the whole album, I have to pick a favorite song.  I think that "2 Guitars, Bass and a Drum" really shows the entire band's talent as both singers and musicians so make sure you check it out!

Here's the track listing:

  1. Don’t Rain on My Parade
  2. Crazy Over You
  3. Read Between the Lines
  4. Everytime You Go
  5. Saturdays and Sundays
  6. Permission to Party
  7. Distracted
  8. Unpredictable
  9. Don’t Come Crying to Me
  10. Best Friends Forever
  11. Slow Motion
  12. 2 Guitars, Bass and a Drum
  13. I Want You to Want Me

If you love the band, don't forget to check out their official website and pick up a copy of the album (on iTunes today and on CD September 22).
