It will be their second album since becoming a four-piece band and is due for release on September 30, 2009 in Japan through Sony Music, October 5, 2009 in the UK through RCA, and October 6 in the US through Jive Records. On the album the group have reunited with previous collaborator and producer Max Martin (responsible for the previous hit "I Want it That Way") to try and create their "best record since their 1999 worldwide smash hit album Millennium. They have reportedly worked with Ryan Tedder, Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly, Jim Jonsin and T-Pain for the album as well. They have also worked with award-winning producer/songwriter RedOne, who was behind the number one singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga. RedOne produced the album's lead single "Straight Through My Heart". The music video has followed a vampire theme and has been premiered on US Weekly on August 27, 2009. Conception and production In an interview with Extra TV, the group confirmed the title of their seventh album to be This Is Us. In the end, however, the group used the feedback from the leaks to help guide the direction of the album and even the song selection by comparing fan reviews to what producers thought about the songs.[5] The album was described by McLean as being a mix of pop and R&B, but including more uptempo songs for live performances and the tour.The first single "Straight Through My Heart" was performed for the first time on August 15, 2009 at the KTU Beatsock in New York City. Speaking of their collaborations with RedOne, McLean remarked that it had been largely a last minute affair. Due to timing, the group was not able to make any recordings with the in-demand producer; however, near to the album's turn-in date, RedOne revealed that he had worked on three songs for the group and was more than willing to collaborate.
