Radiohead Head Into Studio – Will Be Making New Album Posted: 09 Oct 2009 07:32 PM PDT The last year or so has seen the odd little tidbit of information about the new Radiohead album revealed. In September 2008, the band claimed most of the album was already completed. And then in May, Colin Greenwood revealed they were at the stage where all the elements were in place and it was just a case of piecing it all together. But August brought a strange aside when Thom Yorke claimed Radiohead wouldn’t be releasing any new albums, at least not for a long while. He claimed the band didn’t want to go through the rigmarole of recording a long player again. But Ed O’Brien has now made it clear there is a new album on the way, and Radiohead are on their way into the studio this winter with Nigel Godrich to finish it off.
O’Brien told NME:
So, there is to be a new album, and it’s likely to be miserable and introspective as usual. Which all sounds good to me. What doesn’t seem clear at this stage is how it will be released. There likely will be a physical release but will there be another In Rainbows-style digital download first? [Photo Source: Amazon.co.uk] Post from: Brit Music Scene |
New Amy Winehouse Album Out In 2010… Hopefully Posted: 09 Oct 2009 12:27 PM PDT It’s been three long years since Amy Winehouse released Back To Black, an album that transformed her from a little-known singer to a world-renowned singing sensation. But since then she’s had a rather hectic time of it, some of her own doing and some not. Which means her music career has taken a backseat somewhat, with a follow-up album being constantly delayed. Winehouse has spent a considerable amount of time in St. Lucia over the last couple of years. And there was speculation she had been so touched by the place that her new album was influenced by the culture there. At the same time, it was rumored Mark Ronson had been drafted in to save the new album after her record label rejected early demos. That seems not to be the case, and Island Records are now confident Winehouse is ready to deliver in 2010.
Island Records co-president Darcus Beese told BBC News:
Note the “hopefully” though, which means Beese is hedging his bets a little. And the fact he is still only hopeful of the new album being released in 2010 means, by default, that it could slip to 2011. It really does depend whether Amy Winehouse leaves all the crap – drink, drugs, partying, Blake – behind and concentrates on getting new material out there. And she really does need to do so because if she leaves it too long there’s a distinct chance we’ll have all stopped caring. Meanwhile, Winehouse is busy promoting her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield’s debut album, with the pair due to appear on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday (Oct. 10). Winehouse will be singing backing vocals for Bromfield in what is being billed as a comeback. [Photo Source: Newscom] Post from: Brit Music Scene |
