Stephen Gately Autopsy: Died From Pulmonary Oedema Posted: 13 Oct 2009 12:32 PM PDT Stephen Gately, former singer with Irish boyband Boyzone, tragically died in the early hours of Saturday morning. He was on holiday in Majorca with his civil partner Andrew Cowles when tragedy struck. The results of the autopsy have now been revealed, and it confirms Gately died of natural causes. According to BBC News, the natural cause in this case refers to a pulmonary oedema, which sees fluid build up on the lungs. Police have ruled out both suicide and foul play, and the autopsy results seem to confirm this. However, the suggestion that the pulmonary oedema occurred after a prolonged period of heavy drinking is still up for debate. Gately’s family reject claims he had been boozing for eight hours before he died but there is still a chance he choked on his own vomit. An accurate account of what happened may never see the light of day as neither Cowles or Georgi Dochev, the third man in the flat at the time of Gately’s death, seem to have been in the same room as him when he passed away. Toxicology results are expected to be released at a later date> Meanwhile, Gately’s body will be flown back to Ireland for a funeral. [Photo Source: Newscom] Post from: Brit Music Scene |
