Morrissey Collapses On Stage – Rushed To Hospital Posted: 24 Oct 2009 08:10 PM PDT Morrissey has had a tumultuous year thanks to an unspecified illness which has seen him cancel several concerts and television appearances. And tonight saw him collapse on stage and rushed to hospital unconscious. The former Smiths front man was gigging at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon when he suddenly collapsed on stage. He had only been on stage a matter of minutes and was in the middle of opening set song, This Charming Man. Morrissey is said to have straining to perform, wincing, and struggling to breathe before he eventually capitulated to whatever condition he is suffering from and dropping to the floor. Members of the crew then appeared on stage to help him.
An eye witness present at the gig told The Telegraph:
Wasn’t it a little harsh for the crowd to boo a man who has clearly had an episode of some kind on stage? Being disappointed is one thing but booing a man who is clearly ill yet trying to carry on performing regardless is definitely in bad taste. A spokesman for the Great Western Ambulance Service said:
Morrissey’s condition is now listed as stable although what is actually wrong with him isn’t being widely reported. Morrissey has a number of gigs left on his 2009 U.K. tour but whether he’ll now be able to fulfill that commitment isn’t clear. [Photo Source: Newscom] Post from: Brit Music Scene |
