Music Is My King Size Bed

Music Is My King Size Bed

Off to Chicago....Kylie here I come!

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 10:47 PM PDT

Kylie MinogueThis is going to be my last blog for a little while. I'm headed home to Chicago again...and will be there with limited access to Internet between October 6th and October 9th. Not that long of a trip, I know but I've started blogging again after QUITE a long break. I'll be seeing Kylie Minogue live at the UIC Pavillion (moved from the Congress Theater because of the bigger-than-life production). I'm so pumped for this show! It's going to be brilliant. No camera's allowed, so I won't be taking any photos but I'll be tweeting I'm sure. So...until this weekend...peace, love and Kylie!

Introducing - Flying Machines

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 10:18 PM PDT

Flying Machines
Fans of New York-band Flying Machines, can check them out at the CMJ Music Marathon on October 22nd, 8:00 PM at Fontana's in New York. The boys just released their debut self-titled album on September 22nd via EMI and come packed with a singer/songwriter/folky/rock & roll punch. Influenced by artists like Ben Folds and Freddy Mercury, band co-founder John Wlaysewki describes the band PERFECTLY in an official press release: "We mesh my abrasive rock guitar and William [Ryan George]'s beautiful singer-songwritery thing. He brings the beauty, I bring the rock." The band is William Ryan George on vocals and keyboards, John Wlaysewski on guitar & vocals, Evan Joyce on bass and Ken Weisbach on drums.

Flying Machines
I love these guys! Must listen to more of them NOW. Check out their first single, "On A Whim" - available along with their album in stores and on iTunes.

Joss Stone Clears Up The Cover Art

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 08:47 PM PDT

I'm a multi-tasker...and by multi-tasker I mean I can blog AND listen to my TV at the same time. Pretty freakin' sweet, eh? Anyway, I was listening to a TIVOed episode of Chelsea Lately with special guest Joss Stone. Joss was really cute - in fact, the first thing she did was clarify the situation with her album artwork. Apparently, the purple picture-less artwork is being released as the official album artwork in some places, rather than the much-cooler - "Joss-in-a-box" artwork.

Joss StoneJoss Stone
The reason? Apparently the label deems the latter artwork too controversial? I don't know - this was straight out of Stone's mouth. I'm hoping the U.S. release of her album, Colour Me Free on October 20th sees the real artwork. Otherwise, I'm going to wait for the UK release. Which artwork do you like better? Oh! Did anyone happen to catch Joss Stone on Kimmel? Watch the video of her performing "Free Me" HERE. HOT performance. Check out these beautiful new promotional photos from photographer Phil Knott. GORGEOUS. This is why the album artwork needs actual PICTURES of the artist.

That's What Credit Cards Are For...

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 07:34 PM PDT

On a whim, I decided to buy four CDs on CDWow.com the other day four? Well...because I'm easily enticed by a good deal. CDWow was offering three CDs for $22.00. How could I say no? The fourth CD was something I had intended on purchasing anyway.

Calvin Harris
Calvin Harris - Ready For The Weekend - I've been loving this CD for months so I finally decided to suck it up and purchase it. I can't wait. Love everything Calvin Harris touches - whether it's an original track, a production credit or a remix. HOTNESS is the word to describe Mr. Harris. The album was released back in August and the third single will be Flash Back, due out November 9th.

Frankmusik
Frankmusik - Complete Me - Another CD that I've been loving for months is Frankmusik's brilliant Complete Me, also released last August and produced by Stuart Price. Check out Frankmusik on the upcoming charity single, "I Got Soul," along with other UK phenoms Pixie Lott, Tinchy Stryder, and more - due out October 19th.

Little BootsLittle Boots - Hands - Little Boots releases her new single "Earthquake," off of her June 2009 album, Hands on November 16th. Hands is an album that I haven't really listened to all that much, but I've loved the singles released off of the album. "New In Town," "Remedy," and of course "Meddle." Looking forward to this album.

Paloma Faith
Paloma Faith - Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful? Despite her album being ripped to shreds in NME, I could not be more pumped for the debut album from burlesque pop singer Paloma Faith. Her debut single "Stone Cold Sober" captured my attention. Her follow up single "New York" turned me into a fan. The album came out in the UK last week. CANNOT WAIT for this one. Paloma Faith can be heard on a track off of Basement Jaxx's new album Scars, out now. She can also be seen in the 2007 British movie St. Trinian's, out now in the U.S.
