Vertical Horizon - Burning The Days [Released : August 25, 2009]

Posted: 09 Oct 2009 02:25 AM PDT

Vertical Horizon
Vertical Horizon is an American rock band from Washington, D.C., United States, famous for the late '90s/early '00s hits "You're a God" and "Everything You Want". Their most current release, Burning the Days, was released on September 22, 2009. "Save Me From Myself" is the first single and was released on May 11, 2009.

Burning the Days
Burning the Days was released on September 22, 2009, and is the group's first release after a five year hiatus.[6] Singer/songwriter Matt Scannell has said that Burning the Days marks a shift in his songwriting, both musically and lyrically. According to Scannell, "There is a lot more variety and quite a few different artistic moods on this record - almost different sonic landscapes... a lot of these songs feel like a faster tempo than anything we've ever done before."

Neil Peart of the Canadian rock band Rush plays drums on three songs on the album, "Save Me From Myself", "Welcome to the Bottom", and "Even Now", a song that Peart wrote the lyrics to. Scannell asked Peart if he would be interested in playing drums on the song, and Peart responded, "No one else can play drums on it — I won't let anyone else play drums on it. I have to play the drums on it."

On June 23, 2008, during a Duo concert in Lincolnshire, Illinois, Scannell debuted a new song called "Save Me From Myself" off the upcoming album. Also, on June 26, 2008, in Downers Grove, Illinois, Vertical Horizon debuted another new song called "All is Said and Done" off the upcoming album. The song was added to the playlist on the band's myspace page on October 20, 2008.

The album version of "Save Me From Myself" was posted to Alternative Addiction's First Listen playlist in April of 2009.

Paramore - Brand New Eyes (2009)

Posted: 09 Oct 2009 12:11 AM PDT

Paramore Announce "Brand New Eyes" Out September 29th.
Paramore revealed today on their official Website that their brand new album Brand New Eyes will be released on September 29th. As Rock Daily previously reported, Hayley Williams and Co. worked with American Idiot producer Rob Cavallo on the new disc. "We made a record that is exactly what we set out to make," Williams said of the follow-up to their smash Riot! on the band's LiveJournal page back in April. "There's fast, there's slow, and in between… happy, angry, desperate and over it. And I can't believe it's real." The album's cover art, featuring a dismembered butterfly, is also posted on the band's official site.

First single "Ignorance" is out July 7th, but those Web-savvy Paramore fans have already found a 30-second preview of the track — and the single's cover art — over at Amazon.com. July 7th is also the first day fans can begin pre-ordering the album and get the "Ignorance" ringtone.

"Ignorance" is a fitting title for the album's first single, as Williams told Rolling Stone in December, "I have a lot to say this time around, and there's a lot of things I thought I knew that I was absolutely wrong about." So, after pleading "Ignorance," Williams is now seeing everything with Brand New Eyes.

Product Description
Over 2 million records sold, three gold and one platinum single, a gold DVD release, countless sold out tour dates and numerous awards and nominations including the 2008 Grammy Nomination For 'Best New Artist' Award, you can say that Paramore has reached mainstream stardom. Arguably one of the most anticipated releases of 2009, 'brand new eyes' is by far the band's most personal album. Produced by Grammy Award-winner Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock, My Chemical Romance) and co-produced by the band, the long-awaited follow-up to 2007's platinum certified second album, 'Riot!' The 11-track collection is unquestionably Paramore's best and brightest album to date, fit to burst with all the exuberant melodies, breathless hooks, and irrepressible energy that has made the Nashville-based band one of the most popular rock outfits in recent memory.

Pearl Jam - Backspacer (Released 20 Sept 2009)

Posted: 08 Oct 2009 11:58 PM PDT

Backspacer is the ninth studio album by the American alternative rock band Pearl Jam, released on September 20, 2009.[11] Pearl Jam began work for the follow-up to its previous album, Pearl Jam (2006), in early 2008. In 2009, the band began to build on instrumental and demo tracks written during 2008. The music on the record features a sound influenced by pop and New Wave. The band released the album through its own label Monkeywrench Records in the United States and through Universal Music Group internationally.

RollingStone :: Pearl Jam - Backspacer
Have you caught that Pearl Jam MTV Unplugged gig on VH1 Classic lately? The 1992 set has Eddie Vedder jumping around, fluttering his rock-star eyelashes, scrawling the words "PRO CHOICE" on his arm, as the boys in the band flip their hair like hippie-chick hitchhikers trying to flag down a Camaro. "Jeremy" or no "Jeremy," these were guys who wanted to have fun.

Backspacer, Pearl Jam's ninth album, backspaces to that boyish spirit, with the shortest, tightest, punkiest tunes they've ever banged out. The whole album is done and dusted in 37 minutes, a record for these guys. Unlike your average long-running rock band, Pearl Jam started off specializing in slow, ruminative, rope-a-dope ballads and didn't have any instinctive knack for playing it fast or loud. On their early records, punk nuggets like "Spin the Black Circle" were just filler, and you sat through them because you were waiting for the next awesomely slack-jawed torch song á la "Black" or "Daughter." But Backspacer comes out swinging with "Gonna See My Friend," "Got Some" and "The Fixer" — a nine-minute trio of gut-punchers that get the momentum rushing like no other Pearl Jam album openers ever.

Brendan O'Brien is producing the band for the first time since Yield, the 1998 gem that defines the parameters of the mature Pearl Jam the way Ten defines their frantic early days. Like Yield, this revs the tempo while adding classic-rock texture to the punk rush, with layers of Thin Lizzy twin-guitar raunch going on down below. The pile-driving solos that spin out of control at the end of "Got Some" could be nicked from the Stooges in "Gimme Danger" — but the Seventies-flavored cowbell-boogie charges ahead way too fast for anything to feel quaint.

Eddie Vedder's heart-on-fire vocals are the main attraction, as always. He seems relieved not to have to go on singing about George Bush, and he loosens up enough to share his guarded optimism in the new songs. There's a definite positivity to the "yeah, yeah, yeah" choruses that jump out of "The Fixer," which evoke the old openhearted vulnerability of "Wishlist." "If something's old, I wanna put a bit of shine on it," Vedder growls. "When something's gone, I wanna fight to get it back again." And the rugged acoustic ballads Vedder did on the Into the Wild soundtrack carry over into "Just Breathe," a love song that deserves to become Pearl Jam's wedding-song standard.

The songs seem to mess around with a loose theme of addiction and recovery. "Got Some" (with Vedder chanting, "Got some if you need it") could be a dealer's invitation, while "Speed of Sound" is the flip side, a late-night barroom lament from a guy who mourns that "Every time I get me some/It gets the best of me." But the downbeat songs on Backspacer don't get too grim — even the desperate drunk who narrates "Speed of Sound" ends up looking forward to a chance to start fresh tomorrow. Fans of Pearl Jam's chest-beating angst mode might look for some metaphorical resonance in "Amongst the Waves." Yet the more you listen, the more it just sounds like Vedder's spending a nice day surfing. After toughing out the Bush years, Pearl Jam aren't in the mood for brooding; at long last, surf's up.

Track List:
01. Pearl Jam Title Hits Song "Gonna See My Friend".
02. Pearl Jam Title Hits Song "Got Some".
03. Pearl Jam Title Hits Song "The Fixer".
04. Pearl Jam Title Hits Song "Johnny Guitar".
05. Pearl Jam Title Hits Song "Just Breathe".
06. Pearl Jam Title Hits Song "Amongst The Waves".
07. Pearl Jam Title Hits Song "Unthought Known".
08. Pearl Jam Title Hits Song "Supersonic".
09. Pearl Jam Title Hits Song "Speed Of Sound".

Saosin - In Search of Solid Ground (Released September 8, 2009)

Posted: 08 Oct 2009 09:34 PM PDT

In Search of Solid Ground is the second studio album by American rock band Saosin released on September 8, 2009. The recording sessions for In Search of Solid Ground saw Saosin recording with multiple producers such as Butch Walker (whom with they recorded five songs), John Feldman, and Lucas from Matt Squire's production team. Five songs off the album will be produced by Beau Burchell and Chris Sorenson of Saosin.

Three of the songs on the album are re-recordings of tracks from The Grey EP (released in late 2008). "I Keep My Secrets Safe" is a re-recording of "Keep Secrets", with an entirely new chorus. "Why Can't You See?" keeps the title of the song from the EP, and "The Worst of Me" is "Love Maker", the new name taken from a line in the chorus of the song.

The original album artwork was revealed on July 13, 2009 by Alternative Press.[1] The cover was immediately met with a negative reaction from fans causing Saosin to reevaluate their decision two days before the album was pressed. The band tried to create something "high concept" with the original art, but the negative reaction helped the band realize that they "always keep things simple and strong and let the music speak for itself."[2]

The two songs "On My Own" and "Is This Real" were released as singles on iTunes August 4, 2009. The song "Changing" was released as a single August 11. The song "The Worst of Me" was released as a free song included in a Hurley Warped Tour pack.

PacSun hosted a listening party at 5pm in every PacSun store to hear the full album on September 7, 2009. The song "Why Can't You See?" was made available on Last.fm. The full album was released in Japan on September 1, 2009 with the bonus track "You Never Noticed Me". The album was put up on their MySpace for listening on September 4.

Product Description
Saosin's New album In Search Of Solid Ground is the highly anticipated Sophomore release of the Southern California Quintet. Maintaining a hair-raising energy level throughout, the album, In Search Of Solid Ground, is the much-awaited end product of writing, tracking and mix sessions that Saosin fans have witnessed online in real time since last summer, with songs written and tracks demoed in the Costa Mesa, CA studio of global youth brand Hurley, where they self-produced several final album tracks. In early 2009, Saosin worked with producer Butch Walker (Sevendust, Fall Out Boy, P!nk) which resulted in 5 songs on In Search Of Solid Ground. They also worked with John Feldman (The Used, Good Charlotte, Story Of The Year) who produced 2 tracks and with Lucas Banker/Logan Mader (Five Finger Death Punch, Soulfly, Machine Head) on 1 album track. Band guitarist Beau Burchell mixed all songs on In Search of Higher Ground.
Saosin is comprised of Cove Reber (vocals), Chris Sorenson (bass), Alex Rodriguez (drums), Justin Shekoski (guitar) and Beau Burchell (guitar).
